University Of Kentucky Football Recruiting and Player Ranking
Kobie Walker – 6’ 4” 198lbs. 4.65 speed. Olney, Maryland. Our Lady of Good Counsel High School
Outside Linebacker #31 position ranking, 5.7/3 Star
Kobie currently plays the safety position in high school but will be moved to outside linebacker in College. That is where he is ranked. He has great size but will need to add weight in the coming years which shouldn’t be a problem. If he keeps his current speed, he will become one to be reckoned with when playing other teams. The outside linebacker spot is another one of those need positions and Kentucky has found a good one in Walker. Kobie, so far, is only the second player committed that is not from Ohio.
Darryl Long – 6’ 5” 234lbs. Westerville, Ohio. Westerville South High School
Tight End #23 Position ranking, 5.7/3 Star
Darryl is a guy who has always had the size to make a great blocking tight end but now also has the other attributes to make a great pass catching tight end. A year ago he was really raw but over that year he has worked hard to make himself a complete tight end. He looks really good running his routes and seems to beat the linebackers down field. He possesses great hands and a blue-collar work ethic. Darryl will catch a lot of passes in the future.
Tymere Dubose – 6’ 6” 265lbs. Youngstown, Ohio. Youngstown Christian School
Strongside defensive end, 5.5/3 Star
Tymere is another big, athletic defensive lineman that Kentucky got in early on and was able to secure his commitment. His high school coach is Brian Marrow, brother of current Kentucky tight ends coach Vince Marrow. Dubose also had offers from Michigan State, Arkansas, West Virginia and Maryland, among others. Altogether more than a dozen schools had offered. Tymere already has the size to compete at the defensive end spot, now he just needs to learn the technique. In a few years this guy is going to make some offensive lines cringe.
This is a great start to the 2014 class and it is only the beginning. Look for a couple of commitments in the next week or two. Darius West will make his announcement next week and all indications point to Kentucky. Mike Edwards has loved Kentucky for a while and has stated before that he and Darius will attend the same college. I see him popping soon after Darius.
With Clemson securing another running back, look for Stanley “boom” Williams- #1 all-purpose back, #96 Nationally 5.9/4 Star- to make a mid June commitment and the Kentucky coaches are feeling very positive about him. IF Stanley were to commit, look for his friend, Nick Glass to give Kentucky some serious consideration. Glass is currently committed to Georgia but is also looking around.
As mentioned above, watch WR’s Braxton Berrios and Artavis Scott over the next few months as Drew has been in their ear A LOT! Also watch WR’s Derek Kief, T.V. Williams, Moral Stephens and Blake Bone. Hopefully we will see a few OLinemen commit soon, so watch for players like Nick Richardson, Josh Krok, Brady Taylor, Jon Bezney, Jerrett LaRubbio, Marcelys Jones and Isaiah Wynn.
Defense is still a high priority so let’s see if Kentucky can flip inside linebacker Delvin Purifoy. He is currently committed to Florida State. Also, watch the home-grown “man-child” Matt Elam -6’ 6” 325- the #24 ranked defensive tackle from Elizabethtown, Kentucky. He is a must get for this staff and they feel really good about him as well. Another Kentucky product to watch is DT, Adrian Middleton. He is getting a lot of attention nationally and he has a Kentucky offer. Other DT’s to watch are Daniel Cage and Chris Nelson.
Kentucky has offered a ton of “athletes” and the ones to make note of are, Marshon Lattimore, E.J. Moss, T.J. Harrell and Stanton Truitt. Kentucky will try to get Reggie Bonnafon to flip from Louisville to Kentucky but he seems like a long shot.
So, needless to say it is going to be a heck of a year for Kentucky fans as these coaches continue to impress and bring in top talent to a much-needed football team. Stay tuned and Wildcat Blue Nation will continue to bring updates on future commits.
