It’s Mother’s Day! Go buy your mom an awesome gift like a “UK Mom” t-shirt, or one of those really cool toasters that toast a “UK” onto your bread. While we’re all appreciating our own mothers, I thought I’d take some time to recognize some of the mothers of the Big Blue Nation.
Our first BBN Mom: Ellen Calipari.
Known to players as “Mrs. Cal”, or just “Mom” by her three children; Megan, Erin and Brad. Mrs. Calipari acts as a mother away from home for the basketball team, even making each player brownies on their birthday. This is also the woman that, if you’ll recall from All Access Kentucky, requests Coach to bring his tupperware back home from recruiting trips after eating his salad to go. You go Mrs. Cal, saving the environment one plastic container at a time. The Calipari children’s antics are pretty humorous in the Twitter world, so I’m sure they took the time to do something special for their Mom.
Coach Cal himself took to Twitter to wish all BNN mothers a happy Mother’s Day.
I hope all the mothers of our current players, former players and every mother in the #BBN has a great day on this special Mother’s Day.

Our next Mom, Jenna Mitchell. Wife to women’s hoops coach, Matthew Mitchell they have two daughters: Lacy and Saylor and another baby on the way. Mitchell has become a fixture at Memorial Coliseum, cheering on her husband and his teams. Mrs. Mitchell is also very involved in local charities as well, like the Children’s Advocacy Center. Her husband also used his twitter handle to wish her a happy Mother’s Day.
Happy Mother's Day to @jennaRmitchell! She gets my vote for best Mom in the Bluegrass! :) She loves @Saylor_Rose @Lacy_Mitchell very much!!!

"Happy Mother’s Day to every Mom out there in the Big Blue Nation!! Thanks for everything you do!! Enjoy your special day! #WeAreUK #UKHOOPS— Matthew Mitchell (@UKCoachMitchell) May 12, 2013"
And our newest BBN mom, Chantel Stoops. UK fans first met Chantel when they first met Mark Stoops, at his introductory press conference. She also brought along their two young sons, Zack and Will. She said she loved her first UK Spring Game and has “big plans” for the Women’s Clinic in July. Lots of current and former Cats showed love for their mothers today on twitter as well.
Happy Mothers Day!!!

On behalf of the Big Blue Nation, WBN and myself I’d like to wish my own mother, grandmothers and great grandmother, these three UK mom’s and all the Wildcat mom’s out there a very happy Mother’s Day!
Your gift, is a Drew Barker commitment and (hopefully) an Andrew Wiggins one soon.
