Have we mentioned before that Mark Stoops is big on recruiting Ohio?  Yes?  Get used to it.  WR Thaddeus Snodgrass and LB Davonte James are HS teammates and both are big targets for the 2014 class.  And they are both seriously considering the Wildcats.  Of the two, there has been buzz that Snodgrass may be close to committing to Kentucky but his HS coach is not quite singing that song.  Just yet.

"Ohio receiver Thaddeus Snodgrass has hinted that he might soon make a decision about where he’ll play his college football, but Springfield coach Eric Gillespie doesn’t think his star junior is quite ready to make that choice just yet. “I think he wants to make one (decision) before the season. I don’t think one real soon, though, is  likely,” the coach said. “He is one of these kids who loves Facebook, Twitter. He likes to banter back and forth with guys and fans. That’s the world we live in. It’s cool to say a decision might happen now, but I don’t think he is quite ready to make a choice right now.” He has plenty of scholarship offers, including one from Kentucky, whenever he makes a decision. Other offers include Cincinnati, Georgia Tech, Indiana, Michigan State, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Penn State, Purdue, South Carolina, Toledo and Wisconsin. “I think he is a phenomenal talent. He went to a lot of camps and blew the doors out. But his best football is still definitely ahead of him,” Gillespie said. “The kid loves the game. He’s not afraid to work at it. The sky is the limit because physically he has special tools. He will eat up coaching in college and really blossom. “As a sophomore, he missed half the season with a shoulder injury. Last season was his first full season of varsity football. But he has explosive speed. He ran like a 4.3 (second 40-yard dash) at Ohio State’s camp in front of coach (Urban) Meyer. He got offered right then. He works hard, his hands are good. He can beat you one on one. He’s a track kid, but he is finally having a good offseason in the weight room. His class has had three head coaches in three years. This is the first time he’s had stability in the offseason, and that has helped him.” Gillespie calls him an “engaging kid” that coaches “fall in love with” when they recruit him. “He’s very personable and very popular in school,” the coach said. The 6-0, 180-pound Snodgrass likes the offense that coordinator Neal Brown ran at Texas Tech and will use at Kentucky."

And as we have mentioned, Stoops has a two-pronged attack of Ohio and Florida.  Florida TE Marcus Mosely just got his first SEC offer … from Kentucky.

"Marcus Mosely has a growing offer list and, not surprisingly, he favors the BCS schools on that list. Kentucky is unique because the Wildcats gave him his first SEC offer. And that definitely matters, the Tampa (Fla.) Alonso tight end said. The 6-foot-4, 210-pound tight end picked up the Kentucky offer last week and that was the first time he had contact with the Wildcats. Vince Marrow would be his position coach and Chad Scott recruits the Tampa area for the Cats. The allure of playing in the SEC is real for Mosely. “I’m excited (about Kentucky) because it’s my first SEC offer. There are a bunch of good conferences out there but the SEC is really at the top of its game,” Mosely said. “That’s really the conference to be in for NFL talent and if you want to get to the next level.” Mosely also has offers from Louisville, Syracuse, Marshall, Ohio and South Alabama. Some schools are recruiting him as a tight end while others see him potentially at wide receiver. “Kentucky was one of those teams that’s been pretty mixed. It’s mostly tight end but they said they would flex me out wide a little bit,” he said."
