Kentucky Wildcats Basketball Recruiting: Update on the class of 2013, and 2014 star Trey Lyles

With the new energy about football, and football recruiting that Mark Stoops has brought back into the program some people have forgot that Kentucky is still trying to get 3 of the top 10 recruits for basketball to complete their 2013 class. I have heard all along that Calipari wants to at least get one of the 3 if not more, and I still believe that is the case to this day. I want to give you an update on Andrew Wiggins, Julius Randle, and Aaron Gordon.

Andrew Wiggins- I have now heard that Kentucky’s chances of landing Andrew Wiggins are going down. Nobody knows this for sure, because Andrew Wiggins will not talk about recruiting to the media. I was at the Cancer Research Classic, and Andrew walked away from reporters that wanted to talk about recruiting. “He doesn’t like making decisions” is what Huntington Prep Coach Rob Fulford told media. I agree with all the other recruiting gurus when they say Florida State is the heavy favorite to land the #1 player in the nation. Andrew is suppose to take a visit to Kentucky when their high school season is over. North Carolina is also another major player for his services in my opinion. Reminder: Huntington Prep plays Montverde Academy(Dakari Johnson) on March 3rd at Broadbent Arena in Louisville, KY.

Aaron Gordon- Aaron made headlines about a week ago when he added Oregon back to his list, which now contains four schools. Once is what confirmed Gordon tweeted out that “Oregon is a nice look”, I still don’t believe that Oregon lands him, but they are in the final four which is a very good look for them. Some people believe that Kentucky wants Gordon just as bad as Wiggins if not more. Distance will be a factor in this decision though, and that isn’t good for Kentucky. I believe that Arizona is the leader for him, and Kentucky is second as of now. Calipari has had some luck with west coast recruits (Terrence Jones, Kyle Wiltjer, Marcus Lee) so if anybody can pull him from the west coast it’s Calipari. No decision will be made until early Spring.

Julius Randle- Randle just took a visit to N.C. State where he called it “the best one yet”, and he had a very good visit. North Carolina state took on North Carolina, and beat them by double digits in front of the McDonald’s All-American. Julius’s mom loves red velvet cake, and she said Kentucky has had the best cake on any of the visits yet. Randle still will visit Kansas in the upcoming weeks, and some believe Kansas is Kentucky’s biggest competition.

Trey Lyles(2014)- Lyles is a top 5 player in the class of 2014, and is visiting Kentucky this Saturday for the Auburn game. Lyles was at Louisville on Sunday to watch them take on Marquette, and visited Butler earlier this week. Lyles has been considered by almost everybody as a Kentucky lean, but seems to be visiting just about everywhere to make sure. I think he ends up at Kentucky once his recruitment is done with. So, if you are going to Rupp this weekend show Lyles some love as he would be a very big get in the 2014 class.

Here is Aaron Gordon doing what Aaron Gordon does!!!!!!
