WBN SEC Power Rankings: 10/14 Edition

1 of 2

1. #1 Alabama Crimson Tide (6-0, 3-0)Prior Rank #1- What else is there to say about Bama? Their run cannot be stopped as they accounted for all 6 scores. Eddie Lacy averaged 9.8 ypr on 177 yds and scoring 3 TD’s. True Freshman TJ Yeldon complimented Lacy with 2 TD’s of his own behind 8 ypr average and 144 yds total. AJ Mccarron was efficient and didn’t turn the ball over but also accounted for no TD’s. No matter which was you slice it, Bama will be in the National Title game. They’re the best team in the country, maybe the best team since Tom Osborne’s Huskers in the 94-97 seasons when he went 49-2. No SEC team stands a chance. Sorry South Carolina. Next Game at Tennessee: Saturday, October 20th @ TBA

2. #3 Florida Gators (6-0, 5-0) Prior Rank #3- After a sluggish start against Tennessee, and an underwhelming passing performance from Jeff Driskel, he more than made up for it with his legs by rushing 12-177 and 3TD’s. The D was nothing to write home about but Vandy more than took care of their O for them. Driskel MUST improve as a passer or they will not have a legit shot at the SEC East. Unless your name is Cam Newton, the QB should NEVER be your leading rusher. Next Game vs. South Carolina: Saturday, October 20th @ TBA PM

3. #6 LSU Tigers (6-1, 2-1) Prior Rank #5- Holding Marcus Lattimore, the former/future Heisman caliber RB to 13-35 and a TD was clearly the difference. Oh and holding Connor Shaw to negative rushing yardage, and forcing two picks. Jeremy Hill provided what Zac Mettenberger failed to again, which was Offense as he rushed 17-124 and 2 TD. All other scores came via the FG. I look for them to finish strong but with two losses because they have to play Bama down the road. Two NFL caliber defense going at it…again. Next Game at Texas A&M: Saturday, October 20th @ TBA PM

4. #9 South Carolina Gamecocks (6-1, 4-1) Prior Rank #2- Good thing Lattimore has big shoulders because he can rest this loss on them. 35 yards rushing from such an elite runner is pathetic. I know LSU has NFL type D but if he hopes to actually play there some day, he better figure out how to deal. Connor Shaw wasn’t much better as the QB but with a big rivalry game coming up, I’d be careful if I were Jeff Driskel because Clowney got 0, zero, sacks tonight and Spurrier isn’t about to lose to his former Gators. Next Game at Florida: Saturday, October 20th @ TBA PM

5. #15 Mississippi State Bulldogs (6-0, 3-0) Prior Rank #4- Tyler Russell had a career 291 yds passing and they needed every single one, and his 2 TD’s. LaDarius Perkins did enough to keep Tennessee’s D honest, going 23-101 and a TD. They’re not flashy or cocky, but Dan Mullen has them playing like he promised when he took over the job as they continue their best start since 1999. Will they win the West? Absolutely not so long as Bama resides there but they should be 7-0 after next week. Next Game vs. Middle Tennessee State: Saturday, October 20th @ 7:00 PM

6. #20 Texas A&M (5-1, 2-1) Prior Rank #6- In Manziel they trust! Or at least they better because he is ALL they have, leading their rushing attach with 19-181 and 3 TD’s to go along with 395 yds passing and 3 more TD’s. Kevin Sumlin has to work out the 4th Q Defense because LA Tech scored 23 on them and nearly won. Not how an SEC team is supposed to play but they were lucky enough to come away with the win. LTU was no slouch and neither is their next opponent…LSU. Gotta right that Defense. This ain’t the Big 12 and Manziel won’t break the School and SEC record he set tonight of 576 total yards against LSU. Next Game vs. LSU: Saturday, October 20th @ TBA PM

7. #13 Georgia Bulldogs (5-1, 3-1) Prior Rank #7- BYE Next Game at Kentucky: Saturday, October 20th @ 7:00 PM
