Kentucky Wildcat Basketball – Summer School Goings On
By MonsterMash
It’s the summer time, meaning your favorite (or soon to be favorite) players on the Kentucky Basketball roster are actively enjoying their summer. Most have recently set foot on campus and since the majority of the university are still on summer break, they’ve had the run of the place.
Here’s a summary of what the guys are doing this summer.
# | Name | Pos | Class | Ht. | Wt. | Hometown (School) | Fact |
#33 | Kyle Wiltjer | F | So. | 6-9 | 239 | Portland, OR | What would you expect a goofy kid from Portland to do while strolling the streets of Lexington? Chill at Walmart with fellow teammates Jarred Polson and Willie Cauley-Stein (aka The Goonies) and making/posting YouTube videos. What else? |
# | Nerlens Noel | C | Fr. | 6-10 | 210 | Tilton, NH | Housing Families Inc is an organization that supports low income families. HFI held a camp on Wednesday and hosted Nerlens as one of their special guest. When he’s not saving the world, he’s taking a few classes in MA. |
# | Alex Poythress | F | Fr. | 6-8 | 215 | Clarksville, TN | As one of the top recruits in the 2012 class, Poythress has brought more than just his A-Game in basketball to Kentucky. He was recently spotted played a little baseball with his team mates, during which he struck a grand slam and a pose. |
# | Archie Goodwin | G | Fr. | 6-4 | 181 | Sylvan Hills, AK | Archie is on a PR campaign, spreading the news of his nickname #BURR. Goodwin has started the grass roots effort to see to it that come Big Blue Madness, it will be echoed throughout Rupp. |
#12 | Ryan Harrow | G | So. | 6-2 | 175 | Marietta, GA | Harrow’s been excited about being able to play this year. He recently gave an interview to the Fayette observer where he compared his transfer year to the time at NC State and the expectations being placed on him for the coming season. |
# | Willie Cauley-Stein | C | Fr. | 7-0 | 225 | Olathe, KS | Cauley-Stein has jumped into the Polson-Wiltjer squad and officially been dubbed a Goonie. Taking his rightful place in Kentucky YouTube infamy. |
# | Julius Mays | G | Jr. | 6-2 | 195 | Maroin, IN | Mays has joined the team in Lexington and was spotted with Polson, Wiltjer, Hood, Cauley-Stein, Poythress, Goodwin playing some indoor baseball. The newest Bat-Cats won 12-10. |
#4 | Jon Hood | G | Jr. | 6-7 | 215 | Madisonville, KY (North Hopkins) | Hood has been his typical self this off season, going out to the lake, being seen regularly on campus with his teammates, watching his Reds play baseball etc. etc. |
#5 | Jarrod Polson | G | Jr. | 6-2 | 185 | Nicholasville, KY (W. Jessamine) | The third part of the Goonies on the list, I think he’s been incorporated into half of those already mentioned, so I don’t have to. BUT I feel like anything with Polson’s name and definitely his image are instant hits for a site. |
#10 | Twany Beckham | G | Jr. | 6-5 | 205 | Louisville, KY (Miss. State) | Listening to 50 cent, practice, watching horror movies on Friday the 13th. You know… doing his. |
#13 | Sam Malone | G | So. | 5-11 | 190 | Scituate, Mass. | Besides tending bar, Malone has been sailing recently in Mass and rehabbing his injured knee. |
#32 | Brian Long | G | So. | 5-9 | 150 | Dumont, NJ (River Dell) | Getting sunburned, playing (and apparently winning) monopoly… what more does a walk-on do? It is everything you could want. |
