And now we come to what a college coach is paid to do: get results. I looked at the national success of each coach in the past five years and decided to base this on the ultimate result: Success in the NCAA Tournament. I know some people will think it is unfair to include Tom Crean in this due to the situation he inherited at Indiana, but John Calipari inherited a big mess at UK. Since results are most important, I doubled the points and made the top category 10 points. Let’s look at my scoring:

Final Four – 7 points
Sweet 16 – 5 points
NCAA appearance – 3 points
20 win season – 1 point
As an point of comparision, I added the coaches winning percentage during this time but did not assign bonus points bacause in the end, winning in the tournament is the main thing. Perfect score for this catergory is 50.
