Randall Cobb, now playing for the Green Bay Packers, recently spoke with Wildcat Blue Nation.

Daniel Solzman:  Thanks for joining Wildcat Blue Nation today.  How are things treating you up in Wisconsin?

Randall Cobb:  Everything’s great.

Daniel Solzman:  How did it feel to kick off the 2011 NFL season with the Play of the Year?  At which point, during your record-setting touchdown run did you realize that you were going to run all the way?

Randall Cobb:  I was just hoping I made it all the way.  It was a straight gap and when I came out of a spin, I had seen too few men in front of me and green grass.  At that point, I thought I had a pretty good chance of scoring.

Daniel Solzman:  What’s it been like playing with Tim Masthay?  Did he help you with the transition from UK to living in Green Bay and playing for the Packers?

Randall Cobb:  Being up here with Tim has been pretty good for us.  He helped me with the return game.  He told me and showed me what punters try and do in the NFL that’s different than college and just helped me adapt a lot quicker.

Daniel Solzman:  Do you own or wear one of the cheesehead heats?

Randall Cobb:  (Laughs) No.

Daniel Solzman:  How much did you know about the Packers traditions before being drafted?

Randall Cobb:  I didn’t know too much but over time I’ve learned a lot and, you know, that’s one of the reasons I really like this place.  One of the reasons that it feels special to everybody is because of all the traditions that they have here.

Daniel Solzman:  From a fan’s standpoint, how would you compare playing for the Packers to the three years that you played for Kentucky?

Randall Cobb:  I don’t think those are comparable because it’s two different total leagues.  I mean, that’s college football and the NFL is not a whole lot of different.  It’s a very different league than college.

Daniel Solzman:  And what about the fan base?

Randall Cobb:  We both have great fans.  In Kentucky, we had a lot of fans that went out to support us.  They really showed up well in Kentucky with pride and in Green Bay, it’s the same thing.  Everywhere we go, our fans show up.

Daniel Solzman:  Which rivalry is bigger—Louisville or Tennessee?

Randall Cobb:  I think it’s pretty obvious.  It was Tennessee.

Daniel Solzman:  How did it feel this season when Kentucky beat Tennessee in football, with Matt Roark playing quarterback, and does part of you wish you could have been playing in the game?

Randall Cobb:  I felt like I was a part of it…That’s my alma mater and I’m always going to look forward and hope they do well.  It’s a great feeling.

Daniel Solzman:  What was your most memorable victory at UK?

Randall Cobb:  I don’t know.  I think of a lot of games come into my head but one football game where I got to wear Dicky’s jersey.  Also, the South Carolina game where we beat them towards the end of the game.

Daniel Solzman:  What did you think of the fan negativity while you were at Kentucky?

Randall Cobb:  I really don’t even remember what it was.  I really don’t remember what the negativity was that you’re speaking of.

Daniel Solzman:  Thanks again for joining us and best of luck with Green Bay next season.  Any final words for Big Blue Nation?

Randall Cobb:  I miss you all and hope everything is going well.
