Kentucky Wildcats Football: It’s time to look to the North
By Kyle
Chapter VIII: The Conclusion
I think Kentucky’s recruiting strategy is changing for the better. While the Wildcats will need to continue to focus on player from Kentucky, Georgia, and Tennessee, opening pipelines to Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania and New Jersey could really pay off in the long run. The caliber of player that Kentucky needs to be successful is plentiful in the states to the north and the competition in much less fierce. Going head to head with Ohio State, Michigan, Indiana, Purdue, Illinois, Rutgers, and Penn State has a much higher likelihood of a positive outcome for UK than going head to head against Alabama, Florida, Georgia, LSU, and Auburn. After adding three players from Indiana and two from Ohio in the 2012 class, expect the staff to continue to expand their recruiting efforts to the north over the next few years.
