Chapter V: The Benefits

What does Kentucky have to offer athletes from the states north of its borders?  The answer is actually a whole lot.   UK is in the undisputed king of football conferences.  No other conference compares to the SEC and Kentucky has a serious foothold in the league as an original member.  Success in the SEC means success at the highest level.  Players from states north of Kentucky can make the short trip to Lexington and stay closer to home.  In addition to playing in an inarguably stronger conference and closer to home, recruits from the north can look to faster playing time at Kentucky than other SEC schools and even some Big10 programs.  On top of everything else, Kentucky can boast better weather than what the kids from the north are used to.  While players from the south have to give up the 80 degree springs and sunshine of Florida and Georgia to travel to Kentucky, athletes from Ohio, Indiana, and Illinois will get a significant break in the deep snows they are used to back home while here in Lexington.
