Five reasons why the Kentucky Wildcats will lose to Indiana … and other delusional ramblings
By Paul Jordan
Call me disinterested, but I really can not wait for this Kentucky Wildcats/Indiana Hoosiers game on Saturday to be over. It’s been a weird week in that Kentucky beat the North Carolina Tar Heels in a classic game, yet my twitter feed and my inbox have been clogged by news about the Indiana Hoosiers. Not to disrespect Indiana, but I still really consider this a one sided rivalry game.
If not for all the trash that Hoosier fans have bombarded me with, it would be just another game. It’s like when your little brother keeps bugging you to play basketball with him and even though you have a million things to do, you agree to go play the game because of the incessant crap he is talking about how he is going to beat you. So you go out, whip him 21-3 in 21 and feel like a tool for abusing your kid brother and he slinks off, broken and beaten down, until next week when he starts the whole scenario over again.
But if something is printed on the internet, it must be true, and I found five reasons why Kentucky will lose to Indiana. It centers on all of the same things we are tired of hearing this week like Cody Zeller is the best player to ever put on candystripe warmups and Assembly Hall is the most insane environment ever to play a college basketball game in. Get ready for some insightful analysis. One of the reasons is that “Indiana Can Score”.
*Yawn*
But wait, there is more, sadly. I also found this very insightful and extremely unbiased commentary that points out the weaknesses of our beloved Wildcats:
Kentucky is a young and inexperienced team. They start three freshmen and two sophomores. They only play one senior and only use two-to-three guys off the bench.
This can come back and bite them.
The atmosphere is going to be something they’ve never experienced. The crowd will be raucous and it will be deafening loud in there. Kentucky usually stacks their team with one-and-done’s and this will hurt them early in the season.
Later in the season, the team would have had time to gel and would have played together long enough to know where they’re supposed to be in a raucous atmosphere. Saturday, I feel, is too soon. These guys haven’t had much time to gel against a quality opponent so far.
They also are far too young and immature and can get flustered in the heat of the game. With that much talent and the jawing that is sure to go on, young, immature players get selfish and try and do things their own way. This will be bad for Kentucky.
These guys are those type of “immature” players, and don’t even try and say they’re not. Each and every one of Kentucky’s starters can go pro, and when pushed, they get selfish.
I have to think that my favorite line in all of this is the line that Kentucky “has not had much time to gel against a quality opponent so far” Really? I realize that the UK win over North Carolina was not quite the opponent that Stetson is but I thought UK was gelling.
Tell us Cal. What do you think about these “reports”?
Big props go out to UK Hoops Coach Matthew Mitchell and his 10th ranked (and rising with a bullet) squad for their 72-65 win over #5 Duke at Rupp Arena last night. A record crowd of 14,508 fans showed up to watch the UK Hoops squad knock off their second top 10 opponent of the week. if we recall, UK Hoops dusted Louisville by 20 on Sunday.
A’dia Mathies led the way with 23 points and UK Hoops if off to a 9-0 start on the year.
More post season honors roll in for the Kentucky football team. Seems that Danny Trevathan and Ryan Tydlacka were named to Rival’s ALL SEC Teams. Travathan was named to the first team and Tydlacka was named to the second team. Also, Maxwell Smith was named All Freshman SEC by Rivals and the SEC.
Finally, kids can be so adorable during the holiday season, but parents do your due diligence. If your kid is going to be in a video singing for the new owner of the Jacksonville Jaguars, make sure that he is not wearing a “Make it Blaine on Them Hoes” shirt. Not too appropriate for a kindergarten video, but hey, I don’t have kids. I could be wrong.
