WBN Games of the Week: Beat Tennessee

This is a HUGE weekend in college football. As you feast on your Turkey and all the sides, feast on one of the best weekends of the year, taking a backseat only to the start of the NCAA basketball tournament.

Tennessee (5-6) at Kentucky (4-7): Saturday November 265h, 12:21 PM

And so it comes to this: the last chance that the Kentucky Wildcats have to salvage the worst season they have had in years. If the Cats come out on Senior Day and beat the Vols for the first time in 26 years, it takes a little bit of the sting out of missing a bowl game for the first time is sixe years.

Danny Trevathan has been an absolute warrior since Day One at Kentucky. The fact that he has been snubbed by the powers that be in college football for recognition for his talents has led him to play even harder. We witnessed greatness in him while he was here, and the only appropriate way to send him off would be with a win.

Tennessee is not a good football and this is the best chance that Kentucky has to beat them in almost 26 years. It all lies in the hands of a banged up Tyler Bray and a very one-dimensional offense. UT may have used up all of their karma by celebrating like they defeated Green Bay after they defeated Vanderbilt last Saturday.

In the end the offense will do just enough for the win and Danny Trevathan will carry the defense to an outstanding performance against the Volunteer defense.

Louisville (6-5) at South Florida (5-5): Friday November 25th, 11:00 AM

While America shops for deals on Black Friday, Louisville will play their annual forgotten game against the South Florida Bulls in order to try to lock up an Orange Bowl bid. You read that right: if Louisville wins they set themselves up to possibly go to the Orange Bowl.

Now, a few other things have to happen for Louisville to get that coveted BCS, but a victory HAS to happen. The Cardinals have never won in South Florida but this year may be their chance. After the Bulls defeated Notre Dame in the first game of the season they have been downright pathetic. They have been SO pathetic that they have mustered only one win in the Big East.

It’s absolutely ludicrous that a team that lost to both FIU and Marshall has a chance to play in a BCS game. Louisville is not a good football team, they just play in a rotten conference. But I have to give them credit; they beat the teams they were supposed to in that rotten conference.

USF starting quarterback B.J. Daniels may be out for the game due to an injury, which helps the cause for the Cards a little more. I think they win and I also think they go to the bowl game. I hope this is a jinx.

SEC Game of the Week: #3 Arkansas (10-1) at #1 LSU (11-0): Friday November 25th, 2:30 PM

This might be the second best game to come out of the SEC this year if Arkansas can counter the LSU defense with their high-octane offense. The Razorbacks have only one blip on their radar and that happened against the Crimson Tide of Alabama in blow out fashion, 38-14.

Arkansas’ liability lies in their defense. They are giving up 21 points a game while LSU is putting up 37 points but only giving up 10, right behind Alabama with 8. LSU is going to be too much for the Hogs to handle.

The only way that LSU loses is if they look ahead to the SEC championship game against Georgia. I doubt that happens since the Tigers have been playing ranked teams since game one and have beaten all comers. LSU is one of the best teams to ever play college football.

Non-SEC Game of the Week: #6 Stanford (10-1) at #22 Notre Dame (8-3): Saturday November 26th, 8:00 PM

The Stanford Cardinal have played a very week schedule. The only teams that they have faced all season were USC ( Win in double overtime) and Oregon (loss 53-30). Stanford is good but they are not elite good. The top three teams in the country would maul this team at home, away or on a neutral field.

I am not sold on Andrew Luck in the least bit. I think he was handed the Heisman Trophy before the season even began and it’s not even close to being fair. I think Baylor’s Robert Griffin III and Alabama’s Trent Richardson have been more impressive. I also think that Luck is the second best quarterback in his conference behind Matt Barkley of Southern Cal.

Notre Dame is an up and down team and have been all season long. Their three losses have come against a clunker of a game with South Florida, an epic showdown against Michigan and a beat down against USC. But the Irish are talented on offense while Stanford’s defense is allowing 21 points a game.

Notre Dame will have just enough defense to stop Luck.

Clunker of the Week: Tulane (2-10) at Hawaii (5-6): Saturday November 26th, 11:00 AM

Remember all those awesome Hawaii offenses with Timmy Chang and Colt Brennan at the helm? Well, those two guys and head coach June Jones have been gone for a while now. All that’s left is a program that is just a shadow of what it used to be and a burgeoning point shaving scandal on top of that.

All that said, the Warriors will still put it to the Green Wave in Sunny Hawaii.

NFL Game of the Week: Packers (10-0) at Lions (7-3): Thursday November 24th, 12:30 PM

Would it be any other game? The Lions are not the little cubs they have been for the past decade. They are full-grown Simba bad ass now and have been putting up Mega points with Matthew Stafford and Megatron.

Green Bay was challenged against a mediocre Tampa Bay team last week and the Packer defense is ripe for a beating. I think it happens despite the fact that I want Randall Cobb to have a huge game.

That’s all from me. Have a fantastic Thanksgiving Day and a wonderful weekend.
