Apparently the only team that can stop Kentucky is Kentucky
By Paul Jordan
It’s interesting to note how the national coverage of this Kentucky Wildcat basketball team has changed in the last week. The one thing that I took away from the Kansas game was the relative ease with which Kentucky pulled away from Kansas once the team calmed down in the second half. And then we had the struggle against the zone versus Old Dominion. Overall the general consensus seems to be that the only team that can truly stop Kentucky are the Wildcats themselves:
"1. Kentucky is as good as it wants to be.Yes, even though I picked North Carolina to win the National Championship last week on our podcast, I’m this close to aligning myself with the Wildcats this season. Why? Their ceiling is much higher than the Tar Heels’. Kentucky simply dominated a good (but not great) Kansas team last week at Madison Square Garden, an indication that they can run with experienced teams. They are bigger, faster, stronger than nearly every other team in the country — and know it, too. The only thing that will keep the Cats from cutting down the nets will be themselves. Young players have a tendency to mope and get down when things aren’t going their way and right now, Kentucky is probably playing with a little too much on emotion. If John Calipari can reign them in from have too many wild fluctuations, there is no better team in the country — including North Carolina."
John Calipari took advantage of being in the Northeast this weekend and dropped in to watch 2013 recruit Nerlens Noel play. Noel put on quite a show for the Kentucky coach and you can see video of Noel showing out for Calipari, “Kid and Play” flattop, pink shoes, and all….
2013’s Chris Thomas is another big talent and he is down to three schools and yes, Kentucky is one of them. here, he talks about his college choices:
There is no official word on who the starting quarterback will be on Saturday when Kentucky closes out its season versus Tennessee. There were some reports that Maxwell Smith was wearing a sling for his shoulder yesterday and here is a bit of what Joker had to say about Smith:
"“Again, it’s usually hard to tell after the first day. We will continue to evaluate him day to day. If we had to play today, obviously he would not be able to. We will evaluate and get treatment every day and see if we can get him ready.”"
Could we see a return to the black uniforms for the Tennessee game? If Winston Guy gets his way, UK just might. He sent out a tweet last night longing for the black unis once again….

Be nice to where black uni’s for the last game of the season, well see if it happens
I had heard before that Kentucky had designed a type of “throw back” uniform for the Tennessee game, possibly with a silver helmet, when the new uniforms were revealed. Since then, I have not heard any talk at all about this throwback uni, so who knows if it actually existed. But if your senior leaders want black uniforms for Senior Day, I would give that consideration.
