1. LW-1 #1 LSU 9-0 (6-0) (defeated Alabama 9-6) There is no question that LSU is the best team in the nation. While many complained about their offense, their defense was amazing, only allowing 6 points to a team that averages 36 points a game. All season long LSU has played top 25 team after top 25 team; and they have come out victorious every time. THIS WEEK: Western Kentucky
2. LW- 2 #4 Alabama 8-1 (5-1) (lost to LSU 9-6) No reason to drop ‘Bama out of the #2 spot. The Tide were a few missed or blocked field goals away from winning the Game of the Century. Their defense is just as vicious as LSU’s and their offense actually performed better. It’s going to be tough for the BCS to keep them out of the national title game if they win out the rest of the year. Besides, they only dropped two spots in the BCS poll. THIS WEEK: Mississippi State
3. LW- 4 #14 Georgia 7-2 (5-1) (defeated New Mexico State 63-16) There may not be a hotter team in the SEC right now besides Georgia and LSU. The Bulldogs put themselves in the driver’s seat when they defeated Florida last week and now they are solidified there with South Carolina losing against Arkansas. Aaron Murray continues to play well and this team has some major confidence during the right time of the season. Mark Ricth must be feeling pretty good at this point. THIS WEEK: #22 Auburn
4. LW- 5 #8 Arkansas 8-1 (4-1) (defeated South Carolina 44-28) The only reason that the Hogs are not ahead of UGA is because they are third place in their division. Too bad the two don’t play this season, it will be one great football game. Arkansas dismantled a very talented South Carolina defense. The Razorback offense is one of the best in the country and may be in a BCS bowl before it is all said and done. THIS WEEK: Tennessee
5. LW- 3 #15 South Carolina 7-2 (5-2) (lost to Arkansas 44-28) The Gamecocks have been living a charmed life all season long. They have been winning games but have looked awful doing so in most cases. Marcus Lattimore is out for the year and Connor Shaw has looked mediocre to bad ever since his first start against Kentucky. Shaw was also banged up against the Razorbacks. I foresee more losses in the future for this team. Things are going to be worse before thy get better and the SEC East is slipping away before their eyes. THIS WEEK: Florida
6. LW- 6 #22 Auburn 6-3 (4-2) (OFF) The Tigers have been up and down all season and have actually surprised some people with their record despite losing Cam Newton. This week they have a big test playing the Georgia Bulldogs. UGA will be looking to place some more separation between themselves and South Carolina, so the game is going to say a lot about Auburn. THIS WEEK: @ #14 Georgia
7. LW-8 Florida 5-4 (3-4) (defeated Vanderbilt 26-21) I’m still not sold on the Gators. I know that Vanderbilt is much improved, but come on; Tim Tebow is laughing at this performance. Brantley is obviously not going to be the next great Florida quarterback as the Gators are relying almost exclusively on the running game. Will Muschamp is feeling the heat in his first year in Gainesville. The Gator Nation does not take kindly to losers. This week will be a chance for them to boost their bowl resume against a wounded Gamecock team. THIS WEEK: @ #15 South Carolina
8. LW- 9 Mississippi State 5-4 (1-4) (defeated Tennessee Martin 55-17) I almost forgot about the Bulldogs. They are kind of just…there. Nobody in the SEC really fears them and they have underachieved all season long. They are only one victory away from bowl eligibility and will most likely get it, if for any other reason that they play Ole Miss at the end of the year. THIS WEEK: @ #4 Alabama
9. LW-11 Kentucky 4-5 (1-4) (defeated Ole Miss 30-13) The Wildcats are winners of two out of their last three and their offense has looked significantly better under freshman quarterback Maxwell Smith in one and a half games played. The 30 points they posted against the Rebels was their second most all season and the most against an SEC defense. We will find out more about these Cats on the road as they travel to Vanderbilt. THIS WEEK: @ Vanderbilt
10. LW-7 Vanderbilt 4-5 (1-4) (lost to Florida 26-21) It was a tough decision to figure out whether or not to put the Commodores behind or ahead of the Wildcats. The fact that they have dropped two straight left me with the this ranking and the fact that Kentucky has the most recent SEC win. Vanderbilt is 100 times tougher than they were this time last year and this will be a true test for visiting Kentucky. THIS WEEK: Kentucky
11. LW-10 Tennessee 4-5 (0-5) (defeated Middle Tennessee 24-0) UT is one of only two teams that have yet to log an SEC victory. They were given the gift of Middle Tennessee State this weekend and beat them in an ugly, heartless game. The Vols may have never, ever been this low on anyone’s SEC power rankings, but they deserve it. They are truly an awful team with no signs of life. Look for them to fall to 0-6 in the SEC as they face the Razorbacks. One job not being talked about enough is Derrick Dooley’s. I don’t see him sticking around Knoxville after this season. THIS WEEK: Arkansas
12. LW-12 Ole Miss 2-7 (0-6) (lost to Kentucky 30-13) The Rebels have some decent speed at the wide receiver position and a couple of good defenders and that is about it. The Rebels might get one more win when they play Louisiana Tech but I would not be comfortable if I were to bet that game. THIS WEEK: Louisiana Tech
