Stacey Poole and Wildcat Football: Brought to you by our sponsor "Drama"

facebooktwitterreddit

It seems drama is the order of the day in both Wildcat football and Wildcat basketball. Throw some more drama in from Cardinal football and Cardinal basketball, then you have more drama than the first two Godfather movies combined. I prefer to pretend the third one didn’t happen.

Headlines:

-Conflicting reports have been out about Stacey Poole this afternoon. First, he was moving off of campus, leaving Lexington and transferring. Then, his dad interviewed with a local paper and said all is well and that he and his son would make a decision about Poole’s future on Monday. And then Terrence Jones wanted the world to know that Stacey was still hanging out in the Wildcat Lodge:

FYI: DeuceyDuece is Poole’s Twitter handle. Confused yet? So am I. We will keep following things on our end and will update you as soon as we know something.

-The Cats are a favorite for only the fifth time this year. The hometown boys are a 2 point favorite over the visiting Rebles/Black Bears/Admiral Ackbar’s. The football drama has to do with Max Smith, our newly christened starting quarterback. Not that Smith is a drama queen, but the controversy that surrounds him and Morgan Newton provides plenty of water cooler conversation. Enough to rival the Fake Kardashian Wedding and the subsequent Fake Kardashian Divorce.

Newton’s high ankle sprain is not healed all the way, hence the naming of Smith as the starter. Joker’s original plan was to hold the announcement back until Saturday but Morgan’s ankle would no cooperate. Now freshman QB Bookie Cobbins may have to burn his red shirt if something drastic happens to Smith. Sound like a winning recipe to you? It doesn’t to me either. I still think the Cats win. We will see.

-The poster school for drama and acting like subjects for MTV’s My Super Sweet 16 is the University of Louisville. Let’s start with football. Earlier this week it was announced that the Cardinal cheerleaders and dance team would not make the trip to Morgantown West Virginia in fear of violence

Now the Cards have backtracked and apparently both squads will make the trip.  Louisville keeps giving itself a black eye and proving how really whiny and babyish the entire community is. Seriously, quit embarrassing yourself.

-Not to be outdone by the football team, Rick Pitino has created drama of his own. He sat out 6 players last night in an 8 point victory over Division II National Champs Bellarmine University. Four of those players were because of injury and the other two sat out, well because he just sat them out.

Louisville fans are questioning why there are so many injuries on Pitino’s team, especially concussions, year in and year out. I rarely defend Pitino but a coach cannot control injuries.

-In disappointing news, Mitch McGrary committed to Michigan. We will never hear his name again.

-Rich Brooks is moving away from Kentucky. I don’t have the energy to talk about this. I just can’t. I’m too distraught.

I’m done for the day. Enjoy the football games this weekend and I will see you on Monday when we get to discuss Morehouse and the final basketball exhibition. Good times.
