Christian Laettner is coming Home to Roost and SEC Basketball Media Polls are Announced
Christian Laettner will coach the UK villains team in tonight’s epic showdown with the UK Big Blue All Stars.
This is the first time since The Shot that the Big Blue Nation will be able to collectively voice it’s displeasure at the #1 Wildcat villain of all time since the day of that infamous game. I suspect that Rupp will be full of venom and rage as his name is called over the loud speaker.
While this game may be an exhibition, we have to win. The only fitting way for this saga to come to an end is with a final Wildcat victory over the Pretty Boy from Duke. If they lose…well, we don’t want to think about that.
Headlines:
-If you cannot go to the game you can catch it on your TV on the Wazoo Sports Network. If you don not have the Wazoo Sports Network with your TV service, then you can catch it online with this link: https://ppv.wazoosports.com/. The only catch is that the online option will cost some money.
-The SEC-Media poll is out and the Cats were almost unanimously voted as the team most likely to finish tops in the SEC. They received 18 of 23 votes. I am not sure who the people are that voted against Kentucky, but you can’t say Bruce Pearl anymore. Vandy received four votes while Florida was in third place with one.
Poll:
1. Kentucky
2. Vandy
3. Florida
4. Alabama
5. Mississippi State
6. Arkansas
7. Ole Miss
8. Georgia
9. LSU
10. Aurburn
11. Tennessee
12. South Carolina
The first and second team All SEC teams were also announced. Let me be frank here: they are absolutely ridiculous. Two Vanderbilt players are on the first team and only one Kentucky player makes the list. Kentucky takes up three spots on the second team, though. You can’t tell me that Doron Lamb and Darius Miller should not be First Team Candidates.
Here are the lists for whatever they are worth.
First Team:
JaMychal Green- Alabama
Terrence Jones- Kentucky
Dee Bost (for real?)- Mississippi State
John Jenkins- Vanderbilt
Jeffery Taylor- Vanderbilt
Second Team:
Anthony Davis- Kentucky
Doron Lamb- Kentucky
Darius Miller- Kentucky
Kenny Boyton- Florida
Erving Walker- Florida
Festus Ezeli- Vanderbilt
Kentucky will continue to own SEC Freshman and Player of the Week honors like they do every season. Let’s see how these predictions look by season’s end.
-I am about over the attendance wars. We have participated in them on this site and we have fought the good fight, but the fact remains that the attendance was very low against Jacksonville State.. The attendance was low and John Clay tells us that it was the fifth smallest crowd since the Commonwealth expansion in 1999. Let’s be reasonable here: the opponent was not the best and the team has not been good, so the crowd was not as big. I home hoping that the game against Mississippi State will draw far more people.
-The Mississippi State Bulldogs are a 10 point favorite Saturday.
-Joker Phillips squashed rumors that Josh Clemons is looking to transfer. Until Phillips convinces people that he can win SEC games, some outlets will continue to try anything they can to undermine him. That’s why Saturday’s win against an SEC team is so important.
-Kentucky basketball exhibition games start in a little over a week!
That’s all for now. Enjoy your Monday and stay classy.
