Rick Pitino is Still Talking about John Calipari: WBN 4 PM Headlines

facebooktwitterreddit

Pardon me, this may be a little longer than usual.

This feud is the gift that keeps on giving.

Rick Pitino is STILL talking about John Calipari, despite the fact that Cal has yet to even mention the words “Rick Pitino” or “The University of Louisville”. Pitino sat down with Louisville reporter/Tom Jurich Puppy Dog, Drew Deener for an interview. Here is what transpired between the two. Pitino quotes are accompanied by parentheses added by me to clarify what Pitino is really saying. Again, I added the parentheses:

Drew Deener askes Ricky P. about the recent spat with Coach Cal. RP responds:

“I’m not interested in that Drew. Let’s get to important matters. (Like talking about me) It’s totally unimportant (That’s why I responded to Cal and why I am talking about it now). It’s about Louisville, not about anything else (It’s really all about me). We just speak here about the University of Louisville (or whatever I tell you, you twerp). If that concerns you then you can speak about it on your own time, not mine (I’m more important than you, you lowly reporter).”

Deener presses:

“I just know you fired back…”

Pitino gets saucy:

“There’s no firing back. I personally, in my life, will turn the other cheek (Actually I never have turned the other cheek and I never will). I’ve done it in this town with the news media in a number of instances the last couple of years (Like when they had the audacity to ask me about a mess I got myself into). I’ve turned the other cheek my entire life (Like when I complained that the media pressed me about Sypher on the day Ted Kennedy died. Despite the fact that I called the press conference). If you look at my record all I say is positive things about coaches (Except John Calipari) to the point where I have the best Lou Holtz act in the history of the game (What the hell does that even mean?). And I continue to do it and I believe in it (Rick Pitino believes he is Lou Holz????)

And then Pitino caps it off with this ultra hypocritical statement:

“But if someone (John Calipari) hits the University of Louisville in any way in a derogatory manor, you will see someone not turn the other cheek from this point on.”

I don’t even know where to begin with this. Pitino could star in a remake of the classic film “Grumpy Old Men”. The guy is going out of his mind and continues to make puzzling statements that make Grampa Simpson think that Pitino is becoming senile.

The best thing about this whole situation is that Cal has yet to even make a comment. Pitino continues to talk about issues he doesn’t want to talk about as he turns his cheek but then doesn’t turn his cheek. If you can find the logic in this, then please enlighten me.

Right now Rick is coming off as paranoid, malicious and ignorant; the exact words used to attack John Calipari.

Headlines!!!

-Right at this moment John Calipari is at the basketball kickoff luncheon enamoring the audience with his charm, charisma and swag. Color me green with envy. But not the Pitino shade.

Sports Illustrated ranked UK’s back court, which will be comprised of Terrence Jones, Anthony Davis, Michael Kidd Gilchrist and Darius Miller, #2 behind UNC. They didn’t mention Miller, I did because he can play the three or the four spot if needed.

-Sports Illustrated also ranked UK’s front court, which will be comprised of Marquis Teague, Doron Lamb, Darius Miller and Twany Becham, #3 behind Florida #2 (yeah, I’m laughing too) and #1 Duke (yes, I’m still laughing).

-Big Blue Madness is only two days away. It’s Christmas time in the Bluegrass.

– Bullit East forward Derek Willis, who was recently visited by coach Cal, will visit Louisville’s lame attempt at Midnight Madness instead of the far superior Big Blue Madness. My guess is that the kid is intimidated by all of the other star recruits that will be there.

-Kentucky’s football team is on a bye week. That is all.

-Luke Walton is a member of the Memphis basketball staff for some reason. He recently visited Alex Poythress and then talked about it to the media, a big no no in the NCAA rule book. A). Is he that stupid?; B). If Luke Walton walked in here right now I wouldn’t know who he was and I would tell him to get out of here; C). Luke Walton is the best Memphis can do?

-And finally, there is a media outlet in the state of Kentucky that seems to be purposefully undermining head football coach Joker Phillips by “hypothetically” asking Mike Leach if he would take the Kentucky job if it were offered to him right now. I find this grossly irresponsible and a slap in Joker’s face. More about this in the next few days. Just let this information stew a little bit.

That’s all for now. How awesome was that? You don’t have to tell me, I already know.
