It's Time for an Upset: WBN 4 PM Headlines

facebooktwitterreddit

The spread is still 21 in favor of the Ole Ball Coach and the Gamecocks. But if any ranked team is ripe for an upset this week it is South Carolina.

Sophomore Connor Shaw is making his first official start of his career, the Gamecocks running game has not really gotten off the ground, the defense isn’t that good, Steve Spurrier freak out sessions on the sidelines when they are down are detrimental to the team and UK just had, what I think, was their worst performance by far this season on offense.

Bunch all of that together and I think Kentucky is ready to finally put up some points and South Carolina is ready to implode. They are fresh off of a hard fought loss to Auburn and spirits are pretty down on their sidelines.

If Kentucky cannot take advantage of this, then I fear for the rest of the season.

Headlines:

-Did anybody hear about some feud between John Calipari and Rick Pitino? Things really heated up yesterday when Rick Bozich wrote an article that personally attacked Coach Cal and made the ridiculous claim that he is envious of Rick Pitino. Also, not coincidentally in my view, Pitino came out in an interview with Jeff Goodman and called Cal ignorant, paranoid and malicious among other things. Cal and Rick have been doing this back and forth thing for a while but it has never gotten personal. Pitino stepped over the line. He continues to prove that he is becoming a bitter, senile, old man with each passing year.

-Raymond Sanders should be good to go for the game tomorrow at 12:20 PM. The offense needs a spark and I am hoping he is the one that provides it.

In a story as ridiculous as the Pitino and Bozich BS, Memphis fans sued John Calipari for devaluing their season tickets when his national title season with Derrick Rose was vacated due to no fault of his. Cal settled out of court and gave back a $242,000 bonus to their general scholarship fund. If he would have stayed at Memphis I doubt he would have had to pay a dime. Sour grapes.

-It seems as Missouri is all but a member of the SEC, the TCU Horned Frogs will replace them in the Big 12. The conference approved TCU’s entry. The Big 12 reportedly has Louisville waiting in the wings to be the next school to accept a bid into their conference.

-Paul mentioned this in his Shakespeare post and I thought it was hilarious so I am going to mention it again: it is downright comical that Louisville fans are touting Rick Pitino’s one national championship as some type of accomplishment for them despite the fact that he won it at Kentucky. That’s the state of their basketball program and coach. That’s how sad and delusional they are. It’s sad and funny, just like the movie Homeward Bound.

-I have taken a person oath to never link another story from the Courier Journal as long as Rick Bozich is employed there.

-I am thinking of starting a fund to promote a celebrity boxing match between Cal and Pitino.

-Paul is off for the weekend due to his Birthday Extravaganza so you all are stuck with the rest of the staff. We promise to do our best and not crash the site. Also, look for Paul’s Birthday Documentary on MTV’s My Super Sweet 16. Spoiler Alert: He get’s a BMW and throws a fit because it’s not a Bentley.

Happy Friday everybody!
