Five for Thursday: No More Streaking
Cats have to beat the Gamecocks
I don’t think I have to remind everyone here how important it is that the Wildcats bring this three game losing skid to an end at this point. The confidence boost that this team could get by beating South Carolina on the road is immense, followed by a bye week to regroup and focus on the positives and then following that up with a home victory against Jacksonville State would put them back on pace to go to a sixth straight bowl game.
The Cats have to win. Period. South Carolina isn’t very good, they aren’t terrible but they are not LSU or even Florida caliber. This is a winnable game.
Courier-Journal’s Rick Bozich is on Drugs
I just read this article and I am fuming. Louisville Courier-Journal sports writer Rick Bozich wrote an article detailing the “evidence” he has that John Calipari envies Rick Pitino.
Sure Rick has one champioship: at UK. He has 5 Final Fours appearances: three of them at UK. What did Rick Pitino NOT do at UK? Lose to teams like Morehead State and have affairs with women like Karen Sypher.
I wish Bozich would write an article about how Pitino is still crying that he left Kentucky for the NBA and then ended up at a dead end job like Louisville, a place that has brought his career and personal life crashing down at some points.
John Calipari is jealous of Pitino? Cal has the greatest basketball coaching job in the country, the greatest fan base in the country, the greatest recruiting class in the country and the greatest exposure in the country. I am a blogger, I am supposed to be bias. But you Mr. Bozich are supposed to be an unbiased journalist. Too bad Tom Jurich has you on his pay role and is the only reason your paper is still open for business.
Doron Lamb doesn’t regret his decision
Doron Lamb was a possible NBA draft pick but decided to return to UK in order to get better, win a national championship and up his draft status. I think Doron will do all three this season and he will be a key cog for this team. Read his interview here.
UK vs. Villains Game Set
The Kentucky Pros will be hosting the UK Villains team October 24th at Rupp Arena. Out of all the villains that UK has had in the past, none compare to the guy that will coach the Villains squad. The man has no equal in respect to people that UK fans love to despise.
Christian Laettner’s reception in Rupp will be less than welcoming but it will all be in good fun. Kudos to Laettner for taking the job and giving the UK fans something to boo and cheer about.
RIP Steve Jobs
I would be remiss if I did not mention the passing of technological pioneer Steve Jobs. He personally ushered in the latest era of hand held technology innovations with the Ipod, the Iphone and the Ipad. He was Thomas Edison for our generation and his influence will be felt for decadesto come.
Our kids will one day be reading about him in their history and science books.
