Rick Pitino's still misses Kentucky: WBN 4 PM Headlines

facebooktwitterreddit

Sorry, Rick. You will never A). Look this good again; or B). Be on that sideline again. Many people feel that Louisville coach Rick Pitino is starting to go off his rocker a little bit. He says a lot of things that don’t make sense (“Mike Marra is the best pure three point shooter I have ever seen”) makes a lot of analogies that make you scratch your head (“Syracuse and Pitt leaving the Big East is like 5 scenes in the Godfather”) and he is now looking at his present life as a coach and is beginning to think “Remember when…” These are all glaring signs of senility.

Paul told us earlier today that Pitino made the statement that the biggest mistake he ever made was leaving Kentucky in 1997 for the Boston Celtics. He is still calling Kentucky “Camelot” to this day, leaving Louisville fans a little pissed off.

The reason Pitino is feeling this way is that he beloved Big East basketball conference is in shambles with the departure of Syracuse, Pitt and now possibly UConn to the ACC. In a Zagsblog post, RP goes into great detail about why these departures are “the dumbest thing” he has ever heard.

I really think Pitino is at the end of his career and will not fulfill his 80 (yes, I said 80) year contract extension at Louisville. He is now realizing that he is at a school that carries little to no weight on the national scene and is envious of other schools being asked to jump to a what will be better basketball conference.

Pitino’s ego is taking a huge hit right now because he is not being courted like the prom queen he still thinks he is and his remarks about his glory days at Kentucky reveals that if he had it to do over again he would have stayed forever.

Could you imagine John Calipari commenting about how great it was at Memphis or UMass and how he wishes he was still there? The UK fan base freak out would be beyond catastrophic. Lucky for us, Coach Cal will never utter those blasphemous words.

Headlines:

-John Clay is reporting on his Sidelines that he has it on good authority that Alex Poythress will be a Kentucky Wildcat. It’s all rumors and hearsay at this point but any and all suggestions that we will land a 5 star recruit is ok with me.

-Mitch McGrary is coming to Midnight Madness. I am giddy.

-Former UK recruit Rodney Purvis is set to make his decision on Firday. The top rated point guard went off of Kentucky”s radar after Ryan Harrow decided to transfer from NC State to Kentucky. Purvis will choose between NC State, UConn and Louisville among others. He once was a verbal commitment for the Cards but since dropped out. Then added them again. Then took them off his list again. They made the final cut but everyone thinks he is either a member of the Wolf Pack or a Huskie. I guess he likes making Louisville fans cry. Don’t we all?

-Wildcat fans have been camping out for Big Blue Madness tickets since 7 AM this morning. John Calipari and his players have been mingling with the fans, making the camp out mean a little more and worth their time. No other coach could do the job that he does.

-The LSU vs. UK spread is now at 30. You heard me right: 30. Can I speak to the UK football team for a second? Thanks.

Hey guys,

How are you doing? Not so well, eh? Considering the rough start you have had the fan base is a little perturbed at you at the moment. I’m not one of those. I still think you guys are great.

That being said, please, for the love of the University, don’t lose to LSU by 30 or more. Show the nation that you are better than what you have shown so far. I know you are better. You know you are better. Your coaches know you are better.

Play Like a Champion on Saturday (regards Notre Dame)

Thanks,

James

-Josh Clemons is “ready to go” for Saturday. The Cats will need their leading rusher. They will need all the bodies they can get.

-Mike Summers says his offensive line is coming together and showing improvement. They have been make-shift and banged up since week one. Their performance against Florida was….uneven. They will have an epic task blocking the LSU D-Line and blitzes.

-John Akers from Basketball Times has Kentucky as his #1 team over North Carolina. His reasoning?

The consensus is that Anthony Davis, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist and Marquis Teague are the equivalent of three of the best five freshmen in the country. Imagine last season if Harrison Barnes, Jared Sullinger and Brandon Knight were all on the same team with two or three veteran players? I think Kentucky is being undersold right now.”

I really like this dude’s way of thinking. With the three dynamo freshmen, along with Terrence Jones, Doron Lamb and Darius Miller, this team is going to be scary good.

I know that was a lot thrown at you for a Hump Day afternoon but I think you can handle it.

Peace. Go Cats.
