WBN Nightcap: Stay on the Kentucky Football Bandwagon

facebooktwitterreddit

Well, it’s that time again, the 10 P.M nightcap. While I’m at B-Dubs at the moment, I’ll have a night-cap for you which consists of the sweet tea I’m drinking and…Well…Ice. So sit back and let’s get this nightcap started with a few thoughts I’ve been having about the Kentucky football program, and more specifically head coach Joker Phillips.

I’ve been disappointed in a lot of things with UK football. The lack of attendance is aggregating to say the least. It’s sad that the fan base, at least a certain amount of them isn’t willing to “go down with the ship” so to speak. It’s been said that Joker has lost the fan base, and I can’t disagree with that, and I can’t blame a lot of fans for thinking that. I’m a season ticket holder and the atmosphere sucks, the football is sub-par and the play calling is obvious and predictable.

That doesn’t mean it’s time to jump off the wagon yet. This is a long shot, but I think UK should fill the stadium up on Saturday and give this team the support they deserve. This team plays hard, and the defense is better than it has been in recent years. A bowl game still isn’t out of the question, we are only three games in and if the ship is going down like a lot of fans think, then I’m going to be on it, and I hope the rest of the Kentucky football fans are with me when I say that. I understand the fans gripes, but this team still needs support. So man up and let’s do it.

Whew, now that’s out of the way, let’s get down to the news of the day which consists of some recruits making some big news and one of them decided he would go to Kentucky. You may know him as Archie Goodwin. As one domino fell to Kentucky, one also fell to the Kansas Jayhawks who seem to be having all kinds of trouble with players who hasn’t been cleared by the NCAA to play yet. Ellis is an outstanding talent, and the recruiting battle for him carries onto the hardwood in November. I hear New York is nice that time of year.

Blah blah blah blah blah blah, this team goes here, that team goes there in conference expansion. But in reality, the Big East had teams willing to stay to keep it alive. I’m glad to see this moving so quickly, I’m not a huge fan of it but it looks inevitable at this point.

And as you know I always like to end the night with something cool I’ve found on the web, and tonight it’s an amazing touchdown pass from some high school kid who is almost to his back and just throws the ball into the air, it’s basically a 16 yard hail Mary. Thanks to The Big Lead for the video.

That’s it for me and the night-cap. Follow me on Twitter for a bunch of other nonsense. @JNorth0
