It's National Randall Cobb Day on your WBN 4 P.M. Headlines

facebooktwitterreddit

The rest of the country is now finding out what we in the Commonwealth have known for the past three years: Randall Cobb is an absolute beast on the football field.

After last night’s performance, Cobb is the talk of the sporting news world, stealing the front page headlines on ESPN.com, Sports Illustrated, NBC Sports, The Sporting News, and even our local Lexington Herald Leader got in on the action. The Louisville paper, the Courier-Journal, failed to have a story on their website because they had to run an article about what Charlie Strong had for breakfast and that he is not as overrated as the rest of the country seems to think he is.

Needless to say Cobb is expected to do big things this year after his coming out party against the Saints. Let’s see if The Legend can continue his extraordinary play all season long. Keep it locked on the WBN for stories and updates.

If there is one person in the world that I would rather be than my wonderful self today, it would be Randall Cobb.

Now this has nothing to do with Randall Cobb or UK, but this is too good to not include.  Remember those hideous Maryland football helmets?

Yea, how can you forget?  Turns out that the design may have been stolen from a WOMEN’S ROLLER DERBY team!   Seems that the Charm City Roller Girls have been wearing the same design on their helmets for the past three years.  Shame on you Underarmour.  We must protect this ….. intellectual property?

Headline Time!:

-Matt Roark has been replaced by Gene McCaskill in the starting line up. McCaskill will start opposite LaRod King tomorrow at 12 P.M. as the Cats take on the Chippewas. E.J. Fields, DeMarco Robinson and Aaron Boyd are also supposed to be prominently featured during the game. Let’s hope this shake up will light some fires.

-The Cats have dropped to a 10.5 favorite over CMU. I have stated that I believe the score will be 33-9. I am sticking with that prediction.

-The Cards are only a 4 point favorite over Florida International tonight. I have the Cards eeking out a win 27-24. I would not be surprised at all if they lose though. Louisville websites are already making excuses for the loss saying that it won’t really be an upset because FIU is good. Yeah, and I won’t be upset if UK doesn’t beat Central Michigan by more that 2 scores….Not!

-Sorry, but I am going to continue with some Cardinal news. Point Guard Kevin Ware is ineligible to play for UofL until January despite the fact that Rick Pitino telling everybody that Ware will be available to start the season. Won’t be the first time Quick Rick has lied through his teeth about something. Louisville will be extremely short handed at the PG position, leaving walk-on Elisha Justice at the back up. That leaves Peyton Siva to deal with Marquis Teague by himself for most of the game. Ask Peyton how going against a UK freshman point guard has worked out for him the past two seasons.

-The Kentucky Women’s soccer team will be playing Louisville tonight at 7:30 in Lexington. The Lady Cats volleyball team already skunked the Dirty Lady Birds volleyball team earlier this week. The Cats own a 5-0 record in soccer while the DB’s are a putrid 1-3-1. Go out and cheer our girls onto victory as a prelude to tomorrow’s football game. Is there really a rivalry between the two anymore? Why do we even play Louisville in anything? This just made me think of a great editorial. I’m a genius. Stay tuned.

-If you are sick of Randall Cobb news today then you are a terrible person. Just sayin’.

-Big Blue Madness tickets go on sale October 1st. Kiddies, get ready to go camping!

-The debate rages on whether or not to renovate Rupp or to build a new arena. I say renovate Rupp, make it first class and build a new football stadium. Scrap Commonwealth, get a first class facility and bring our football program up to par with the basketball program. That’s my take, for what it’s worth.

-Do something for America and listen to our Podcast. We will deport you if you don’t.

-Look for Josh Clemons to get the lion’s share of the carries tomorrow. I think that kid is about to break out and be a star for the Cats. But it all starts with an O-Line gut check.

-I was just kidding about deporting you. We don’t have that kind of authority.

That about does it for me. See you lovely people next week. Cheer the Cats on to victory from Commonwealth, a bar, a buddies house or at your pad. Game time is 12 P.M. on ESPNU. Enjoy a victory.

Go Cats!
