Where Are They Now?

We are almost at the end of the dead zone for football news but rest assured, there is still no new information out. Next month NFL camps should be opening for mini-camps but probably won’t, which leaves us to dive on any scrap of information like it was a loose dinner roll at John Goodman’s dinner table. But for right now let us reminisce on players of yesteryear and catch up on what they are doing. It’s like a creepy ex-girlfriend stalking on Facebook, except with more smiling and less cursing when you see them standing beside other guys.

Garry Williams– 2008 draftee is opening running lanes for the Carolina Panthers and their future draft bust Cam Newton. Since he’s still in the league we can assume he’s doing a hell of a job.
Wesley Woodyard– Another 2008 draftee that found his way into a captain’s role (even if it’s special teams captain, who cares? Still cool) with the Denver Broncos and looks to continue the great job he’s done. Fun fact: Woodyard recorded 10 tackles in his first start in the NFL.
Steve Johnson– After being largely ignored for the first part of his career he blew up last year, breaking the 1,00 yard mark and becoming a fantasy all-star. Despite Buffalo’s drafting this year, he will still be a big part of the system and will maybe find the answer to the question,”Why so serious?”
Jacob Tamme– The last of the 2008 draftees and probably the most well known in that group, the Colt from Danville burst onto the scene last year after Dallas Clark went on injured reserve and elevated my fantasy team to crush mode, recording 67 catches last year compared to six the previous two. Unfortunately Clark is back but Tamme’s price tag got a boost and could possibly look to start for another team sometime in the future.
Alfonso Smith– A somewhat unlikely figure to still be in the NFL, Smith doesn’t have any stats yet and we can only hope the Cardinals find a way to use him and avoid anybody asking the question,”Who is playing QB for them?”
Myron Pryor– The man best known in his playing days for the play that earned him the nickname “310 lbs of Glory” is now chewing up blockers in Foxborough, MA and waiting for Vince Wilfork to break his leg so he can show the rest of the world how much glory can fit onto one frame. 6 tackles last year isn’t too bad for a DT but will need to improve.
Corey Peters– Another Kentucky kid making a name for himself in the trenches, the Falcons boosted their line when they drafted in him 2010. 33 tackles last year means that Atlanta got their money out of the deal and have him locked up for a few years to come. Plus he doesn’t have to deal with all of the snow that he would in Massachusetts.
Tim Masthay– Despite being called out by a coach earlier in the year for his consistency, pulled it together and now can’t hear what you’re saying, his super bowl ring is in the way. Now if he could just get Randall Cobb to stop asking to wear it and starting helping the Packers win another one.
Trevard Lindley– “The Assassin” has yet to make huge waves for the Eagles so far, only recording 22 tackles last year but will benefit from another year under his belt and possibly a reflective visor in his helmet.
Jeremy Jarmon– Only three tackles in five games played last year? That’s not the man-beast we know. Suffering from a bit of a log jam at DE in Washington in addition to…being in Washington probably makes it hard.
John Conner– “The Terminator” had only 44 yards last season but did score a TD as a backup to modern day Methuselah Tony Richardson. It is only a matter of time before people start dying.
