WBN 5 For Wednesday: Calipari Is A Mad Scientist Edition

You Have No Idea What I Am Thinking Do You?
First up on today’s agenda: Former OSU Coach Jim Tressel is the media darling these days, with everyone from myself (in a later post) to ESPN, to local Columbus TV and Radio personalities talking about the Ohio State squad and their favorite tattoo parlor. I have to ask this question though. Why is no one looking for Terrell Pryor’s head here? Shouldn’t he be bearing some of the brunt of this debacle? Oh what a tangled web we weave.
Second: Now I know that LeBron James is a friend of Coach Cal’s, and I may be committing a Cardinal Sin here (hate using that term), and our fearless leader probably is going to skin my nose a bit, since he lives down there, but I really, REALLY, hope the Mavericks rebound from last night’s loss and take out the Heat in the NBA finals. I am sorry, I know Pat Riley is in charge down there, and everyone else is on the bandwagon, I just cannot bring myself to do it. I have been a Celtic fan since the days of John Havlicek, and I am not switching now.
Third: Switching gears to the gridiron, Joker Phillips is worried about the Cats and their ability to score points in the coming season. I share his concerns. With Charlie Strong ramping up the D at Louisville, and everyone’s eyes being on college football this fall, since they will probably not have pro football to watch, the Cats need to put up some serious points and be able to score against the SEC. Something which they have been readily able to do the last few years. It was always stopping someone from scoring that gave the coaching staff fits. Is the shoe now on the other foot?
Fourth: In the news of the bizarre and head scratching variety, Former UK Guard Derrick Jasper is now a college basketball coach. At Texas Tech under Billy Clyde Gillispie of all people. Like I said, bizarre.
Fifth: Want to get a look ahead at who the Cats have on John Calipari’s radar for the next couple of years? The Herald-Leader has a nice look at the kids that Coach Cal is concentrating on to continue to build the legacy of the Wildcats. Of course Coach has the freedom to change his mind at any moment, and probably will, too.
I will have my assessment of the Tressel situation later, and now that the weather has returned to normalcy here in the Bluegrass, I hope my internet access stays available, you will see me getting back into the groove a little bit. I am laid up here at the house with a bum knee at the moment, so I will try to squeeze in some extra stuff this week for the boss, so he can enjoy some of the Florida sunshine.
