Kentucky Wildcat's 5 for Tuesday: Bruce Pearl – outlaw until the end
By Paul Jordan
**Sorry, no pictures to go with your morning five today. Blame Blogger :(**
As the details come out, it becomes more and more important that the University of Tennessee had no choice but to finally cut ties with the sweatly one. The official release from the University of Tennessee reveals that violations were committed by Pearl both in September 2010 and even March 2011:
"During this time, the dynamics of our case with the NCAA have evolved further, including additional violations committed on September 14 and in March 2011. The cumulative effect of the evolution of the investigation combined with a number of more recent non-NCAA-related incidents have led to a belief that this staff cannot be viable at Tennessee in the future."
Really? Apparently the violation was for giving a players family extra tickets, but a this point, any aditional violation is just thumbing your news at the NCAA and in the end, tossing Pearl aside was akin to a last ditch plea for pity from the NCAA. I really don’t think it will help that much … but adios Bruce. It’s been fun hating you.

In the end, the size of the North Carolina was too much to doom the UK Hoops squad as the Tar Heels bounced the Kentucky from the second round of the NCAA Tournament 86-74. The UK Hoops squad played catchup for virtually the whole game and cut a 15 point Tar Heel lead to just two, but could never fully convert and take the lead. Victoria Dunlap scored 23 points to lead Kentucky and the fourth seeded Wildcats finished 25-9 on the season.

Could Kentucky have an advantage over the Ohio State Buckeyes because they have faced more adversity all season long? Ken Howlett from A Sea of Blue feels that the Wildcat’s season has been fueled by the fire of losing, and that is something simply the two loss Buckeyes have not experienced. I tend to agree that Kentucky has built on these season long lessons and if Kentucky is in striking distance with say, eight minues to go, well this could get very interesting.

Could Doron Lamb be the “x factor” in controlling Ohio State’s Jared Sullinger? Sure, Sullinger has a huge height advantage, but let’s not forget hat in hish school, Lamb took on Sullinger and held him to just three points. I’m not saying that this is in Calipari’s playbook, but the though has to be in Sullinger’s head as they prepare to match up again.
