As we prepare for our battle with our illiterate friends to the south, the news has come slowly throughout the day. I want to be at peace with the Cats winning on the road. Cool, calm and collected. So hit play on Amen’s Corner and gather your thoughts as we calmly look at the news of the day:

According to Clay Travis’ twitter feed, Tennessee is expected to receive their official letter from our good friends at the NCAA sometime very soon. A decision on the future of Tenn. and Bruce Pearl should follow soon thereafter. Assuming the NCAA follows suit, expect Pearl to be given a pat on the back and high five. Also expect Enes Kanter to rule permanently ineligible again.

Tom Leach reports today that Trevor Lacey has in fact made a decision on where he will play his college ball. Only problem is, no one will know for sure until signing day. Signing day is actually signing period and runs from April 13th to May 18th, but most athletes make their intentions know on the former. Lacey just visited UK on Saturday and with him announcing that he will announce a decision sits well with UK fans. But stayed tuned as anything is possible.

All around grease ball and d-bag Steve Masselio might be in the picture for the not-vacant yet Western Kentucky job. I don’t really care about Masselio or WKU, but I know if he takes the job, be cautious when purchasing any tickets to home games.

I just listened to Coach Cal’s SEC teleconference call and here are some notable excerpts:

Here are a few notes:

– Calipari said he’s trying to do whatever he can to make his team better and put the team in the right frame of mind at the end of games

– He defended his decision to stick with his primary players against South Carolina, even though the game was out of hand. He cited the improvement and psyche of his team as well as South Carolina’s choice to press the entire game as reasons he didn’t give UK’s reserves more minutes.

“We’ve got to get better as a team, and if I’m going to play those six or seven guys, then those six or seven have to get better,” Calipari said.

He added, “I didn’t want the game to be one where I had to put players back in. I’m working on psyche too.”

– Calipari expects a ferocious crowd at Arkansas. “It’s going to be wild,” he said. “It’s a great arena. It’s a great environment. It’s a great college campus. It’s going to be a hard game for us.”

– Cal noted that he’s impressed with how hard Arkansas plays and said they are very athletic.

– Calipari mentioned his team’s 1-5 road record in the SEC and said, “we are what our record says we are.”

Coach Pel talks about the upcoming battle with Kentucky

As March Madness begins to unfold, we look to “experts” like Joe Lunardi and Gary Parrish to tell us how the Cats will fare come tourney time. The Sporting News says are Cats are a 4 seed along with Louisville, North Carolina and Florida. I can handle a 4 seed, but would love to move into the 3 slot by winning out the regular season.

4. North Carolina, Florida (SEC), Kentucky, Louisville. As Florida coach Billy Donovan said during the SEC media teleconference Monday afternoon, “we have obviously a very, very difficult week starting on Thursday.” That’s the day the Gators host Georgia; then they travel to Kentucky for a game against the Wildcats on Saturday. And they’re not sure if senior forward Chandler Parsons will be able to go as he deals with a deep thigh bruise. Win both of those games and the Gators could be in the mix for a No. 3 seed, maybe even a No. 2 spot.
