Kentucky Wildcats Farmer's Almanac for Friday (2/18/11)
By dtadmin
Well hello Richie glad you could join us today. Oh you have been busy on the Campaign trail, well that is okay we excuse you from missing in action yesterday. But we are glad to have you back to share the news with all the loving Cats fans.
As we all know the Cats take on South Carolina tomorrow at Rupp and if you don’t have tickets well it looks like they are still available as no one really wants to come out to see the Gamecocks in Lexington. Normally this game would be a sellout game as all games at Rupp but this game isn’t as impressive as it could be. South Carolina has not won a game on the road in the past month and that was against Florida. With the way the Cats play at home mixed with the comfortable win at their place not long ago the Cats are favorites. If you want to be there for the win get your tickets and head to Rupp tomorrow.
Now for Next year’s squad it looks like three of Cals recruits for next season have been named as top five finalist for the High School Naismith Award, Anthony Davis, Marquis Teague, and Michael Gilchrist . Now if you don’t thing next year’s recruiting class is special when is the last time you had 3/5 of the honorees on the same team?
Looks like Kentucky will be playing in another preseason tournament next season as they have signed on to be in the Hall of Fame tournament. I feel this is a great honor to able to play in this tournament knowing the history of our ball club.
It looks like everyone favorite mistake has got himself back into the news again. It looks like Billy Clyde will be in the running for the Oklahoma job as well next season. That is three job offers for him next season so the odds are looking good for Gillispie next season. This will make for an interesting coaching match up if he goes to Oklahoma as he will be in the same conference as former UK player and EKU coach Travis Ford, many wanted Ford to replace Billy as the Kentucky coach prior to the hiring of Caliapari.
It looks like all the hard work of voting for John Wall has paid off. Wall will participate in the NBA Taco Bell Skills Challenge on Saturday. He will also be joining Demarcus Cousins and Eric Bledsoe in the rookie challenge tonight on TNT. Wonder if Wall will challenge Big Cuz to another doggie contest?
Another former Cat that is taking part in the NBA All-Star weekend is Rajon Rondo. Rondo will be playing as a Reserve in Sunday’s game. He has pledged for every steal he makes in the game he will donate $5,000 dollars to basketball programs in Louisville. As most of your remember he is a native of Louisville, he isn’t just trying to make the Cards a better program.
As a reminder today is Opening Day for Kentucky Baseball and Jordan Cooper will be taking the mound for the Bat Cats.
Well we didn’t want to keep Richie busy for too long so we kept this short as he is getting back to his western Kentucky campaign tour.
