Kentucky Wildcats Daily Farmer's Almanac for Thursday
By Paul Jordan
Richie couldn’t make it today, so he sent his mustache instead.
Lot’s of news today so let’s get to it:
First off I rewatched the UK – Tenn. game and Jimmy Dykes said the word “nail” 22 times. I hope we can put that baby to rest.
According to several posts (unconfirmed for now) on Twitter, John Calipari visited 2012 recruit Shabazz Muhammad last night. Here’s an interview with him… I want this guy as much as Rick Pitino wants a middle aged blonde.
Over the next five weeks, you are going to get very, very, very tired of hearing two words: The Bubble. Luckily Kentucky is clearly off the bubble and in the tourney. UofL still has some work to do… Check out the full breakdown of who’s in and who’s out as of today.
I want a new Rupp Arena and so do you. The people controlling the money want to renovate the current Rupp. Mitch Barnhardt and company aren’t so sure which way to go and in a brief interview he tip toes around the subject.
A lot of talk recently has been on who is going to be in the McDonald’s All American game. Through twitter we have found out that all of UK’s 2011 class has been to selected. But as customary they are having a selection show on ESPNU to make it official. So tune in as I’m sure they will be talked about greatly. Anyways, ever wondered which school has had the most Burger Boys?
Steve Brown has taken a lot of heat over the last couple years about his defensive coach job, or lack there of, at the University of Kentucky. Well football fans might have got their wish *Steve Brown gone* as he has interviewed with UCLA to fill their D coordinator position.
If I said it once, I’ve said it a thousand times, I hate the word Bracketology. Now I have more to hate as the word Bracketknowledgably has been introduced. But it is fun to see where the Cats might land for March Madness, so check it out here.
Great news basketball fans. It looks like ALL of March Madness will be televised this year. I for one have scheduled my vacation time in accordance, you should too.
Are you ready for some football… Yeah me neither. But rivals released their Spring Football primer here and had this to say:
KENTUCKY
Practice begins: March 30
Spring game: April 23
The buzz: The offense now belongs to QB Morgan Newton with the graduation of Mike Hartline and the transfer of Ryan Mossakowski. Newton needs to prove he can handle the job because the Wildcats are looking for a new starting tailback to replace Derrick Locke and a new go-to receiver to replace Randall Cobb, who had been UK’s “Mr. Everything.” Rebuilding the line is the top priority on defense. It obviously would help if a few more defensive playmakers stepped to the fore.
Speaking of football: Randall Cobb is gone. I cried a little just now when I wrote that, but Todd McShay says Ole’ Pretty Eyes might crack the 1st round. We wish you the best Randall!
And finally Rivals is killing it today as they released their list of best UK players ever in the NBA. Check it out here as Rondo, Walker, Wall and Dan Issel top the list of all time best Cats in the NBA. I have a feeling a few more names in the next couple of years will make that list.
Hope you got your fill of news and we’ll see you again tomorrow. In the mean time Richie expects you to grow that Stache out and have some Kentucky Pride.
Go Cats!
