Kentucky Wildcat's Daily Farmers Almanac (2/1)
By Paul Jordan
Good afternoon, BBN and here we are three hours till gametime and this test will be the first of three big road tests over the next two weeks. I know there has been a lot of talk about Kentucky’s six man rotation, and while it is concerning to me, other people still think very highly of our “Sensational Six”. Should I copyright that now?
Luke Winn of Sports Illustrated certainly thinks that Kentucky is one of eight teams that should win the national title and he has this to say:
"KENTUCKYOf the teams that already rank in the top five efficiency-wise, the Wildcats have the most upside. Their two highest-usage freshmen, hybrid forward Terrence Jones and point guard Brandon Knight, have yet to hit their peak, and junior leader Darius Miller has been surging in his past five games. They fit the teams-with-NBA-talent-win-titles formula — Jones and Knight, at the very least, have a future in the league — and they’re a much better shooting team than the loaded club that went ice-cold in last season’s Elite Eight."
Doug Gottlieb also seems to like our Wildcats and has them listed in his top five teams in the country:
It seems that that John Wall is getting the hang of this basketball thing as he was named the Eastern Conference Rookie of the Month for January. I am guessing he puts that award up there with all those SEC Freshman and Player of the week awards he won.
Good news for those of you out there that do not have ESPN-U and was fretting not getting tonight’s game. Well, due to the weather situation, a Big 12 game was cancelled and the UK game will be simulcast on both ESPN2 and the U as well. Unfortunately I think we are still stuck with the ESPN-U announcers, but that has to be better than Jimmy Dykes telling us that UK has no bench 42 times, right? And that is just in a half.
And finally, tomorrow is National Signing Day and our very own football editor Kyle and Zach Rosen will be covering signing day and providing updates throughout the day. I know Kyle mentioned three players that could be a pleasant surprise for the Wildcats in the post below this one, and I know we will be keeping an eye on in state players like Bubba Tandy, Jon Davis, and Lamar Dawson.
I have to say that I am a bit disappointed in the Ryan Mossakowski decision to redshirt. But regardless, I am NOT taking him off my Kentucky Wildcats dynasty on XBOX. . I just finished a thrilling game during the 2012 season at the Swamp where Morgan Newton was injured and Mossakowski came off the bench to lead Kentucky back from a 14-0 deficit to win 27-20.
Ah, the wonders of unemployment in a tough economy. That phone is not ringing like it should, but the XBox helps me pass the day. If you wanna pass some daytime hours, add me: orlandokat32746. Go Cats.
