Kentucky Wildcats Daily Farmer's Almanac for Thursday (1/27/11)
By Paul Jordan
Sorry Gubner, but Richie is coming for you.
I think I love Thursday’s the best. The weekend is so close you can almost taste it, just drawing me in like a tractor beam. And, man am I ready for the weekend. This week long drought without Kentucky basketball has been killing me. But at least we’ve got Richie there pull us out of the abyss and prepare us with:
NEWS OF THE DAY!
Big Blue Nation is CRAZY. We are everywhere and we Refuse to Lose©. That being said I urge anyone who reads this blog to vote for Coach Cal as he battles it out with coaches throughout the country to win money for his favorite charity. We know we can’t lose a challenge especially to Florida or Duke, so go get it done!
Rivals checks in with a cool little feature estimating the probability of the longest home winning streak to continue this season since Kansas got thumped last week. Kentucky sits at 6-1 odds with a very tough game coming on Saturday. Let’s hope the streak NEVER dies.
Speaking of odds, our friend Larry Vaught has some of his own. He seems to think Kentucky is in the lead to land 2012 football linebacker Lamar Dawson. UK sits at a 4-1 favorite with the Low Down Dirty Vols coming in at 2nd with 7-1 odds. The Boyle County linebacker is a must get for Joker as a few defensive recruits have already jumped ship.
You like Brandon Knight, I like Brandon Knight and Coach Cal likes Brandon Knight.
OK, I know I’m asking a lot of you to click a link and vote, but our Cats need us. If anyone watches the festivities surrounding the NBA All Star Game, you will notice some cool stuff. Namely the skills challenge presented to the best all around player. Steve Nash and Jason Kidd have won these int he past, but now its John Wall’s turn. So go vote for him to get into the competition and then watch him destroy the other NBA point guards.
At Kentucky we don’t rebuild, we reload. Yahoo Sportswriter begs the question though, Can UK basketball reload year after year and be successful? Its been working so far and with next years class lined up I can’t imagine anything different. But this is still a good read and I think you should check it out.
I feel like we played with fire and came out unscathed with Bledsoe-Gate last year. The investigation found something fishy, but couldn’t tell if anyone was at fault… That had me sweating for a while. Anyways Kentucky is recruiting Alabama stud Trevor Lacey for the 2011 class and as this article states “Lacey is in serious danger of failing to qualify, but he says he can get the job done in time in that department and will be able to enroll as a freshman.” So Trevor get your butt in the classroom and “Get ish right.” I don’t wanna go through the Alabama High School Grade Commission again.
So I guess that’s all for now. Check back in as Wildcat Blue Nation is really taking off. We have a great group of writers and I feel like we are blowing the competition out there out of the water as far as content goes.
As always:
Go Cats!
