Kentucky Wildcats Daily Farmer's Almanac for Wednesday (1/26/11)
By Paul Jordan
Sticking with the unforgetable theme today
Bloggin’ ain’t easy folks. You have to bring the information (correctly), try to be entertaining and also try to stand out from the crowd of millions of other bloggers. So hopefully you enjoy my Farmer’s Almanac and think “hey this guy reminds me a little of Richie Farmer”. “He’s strikingly good looking, a Kentuckian and has a great mustache.”
Ryan Shooter for Agricultural Commissioner 2012!!
To the news!
As I informed you a while back, Anthony Davis injured his thumb during a basketball game. Well he hasn’t played for a couple of weeks and now he’s back on the court and as the kids say “Going HAM”. He flirted with a quadruple double last night and tallied his first triple double of the year he scored 23 pts, had 14 steals, 5 blocks and grabbed 10 rebounds in the Wolves’ 68-46 Blue-West win.
In another slow news day I figured we’d look at more future Cats and how their high school season is going. Ever heard the name Michael Gilchrist, and if you haven’t go on and pack up your things and get out. Anyways he’s pretty good at basketball. He scored 32 points last night while his #1 ranked St. Patricks team scored 66 total. Can’t wait till Gilly gets on campus.
Sticking with the recruiting theme, our man John Calipari has been out and about lately looking to stock pile some more talent in the future classes. I’m pretty sure Cal is good at recruiting, but its always nice to know who he has his eyes on. Last night he checked in with Archie Goodwin in Arkansas and we can only assume he liked what he saw. Goodwin scored 32 points and apparently picked up an offer from Coach Cal.
Look I love Rupp Arena. I love the atmosphere, I love views and I love the capacity. But unfortunately its getting old and it time for a change. As much as I hate to admit it, Louisville and the Dumb! Center is very nice and at UK we demand the best at everything concerned with Basketball. Good news is new mayor Jim Gray has called for a panel to discuss the future plans of Rupp. So everyone cross your fingers that we get a new arena that will squash Porcini’s Palace 70 miles west.
If you are like me, and I hope you are, you hang on every word our fearless leader John Calipari has to say. So implore you to check out his weekly mailbag compliments of Fox Sports South and their crappy 380i HD service. In other news Coach cal is wearing a Steelers helmet, so I’ll go ahead and start the rumors now that Cal is leaving to coach in the NFL. You will be sorely missed Coach.
And finally, as I’m sure you’ve seen on multiple sites, but I’d be remiss to not mention it. Terrence Jones is Jonesin’ for some Trey Thompkins and not in a good way. I am assuming this means he’s going straight at Trey and is focused on the game. Either that or he thinks Mr. Thompkins is good looking, but I doubt it. I for one hope we make him cry on Saturday.
See you guys later and make sure to check out my Jarrod Polson story below, its sure to bring a tear to your eye and a smile in your heart.
