Kentucky Wildcat 5 for Christmas Eve: The NCAA reaches a whole new level af absurdity

facebooktwitterreddit

I know it’s Christmas Eve and I was going to be good today and not complain or rag on anyone or anything, but seriously …. the NCAA is full of a bunch of idiots.  In case you were out Christmas shopping or wrapping gifts, Ohio State QB Terrell Pryor and four other teammates sold championship rings, game gear, and even team awards for cash and traded them for tattoos.  Are you ready for the NCAA beat down on Ohio State?

Well obviously the drunk on eggnog NCAA talked to the players and decided that “they did not know” it was a NCAA violation, and suspended them for five games next season …. allowing them to play in the Sugar Bowl this year.  The unfortunate joke is that all of the players are juniors and all this decision will really do is hasten Pryor’s departure to the NFL along with a couple of other players, leaving just one or maybe to players to sit out next year.

It’s obviously more inconsistency from the NCAA. Georgia WR AJ Green received four games suspension for selling an Independence Bowl jersey for $1000 and from all accounts, did not try to use the “Boys will be Boys” defense.  Pryor recieved at least $2500, plus possibly a tattoo, for selling a Big Ten Championship rin among other things and he got five games.

Meanwhile, while Cameron Newton and Terrell Pryor are able to play in their bowl games, Enes Kanter continues to sit in his NCAA ordered purgatory, waiting for the buffoons in charge to rule on something they have had all the information on for several months.

Where is the sanity?

Former Wildcat coach Rich Brooks would not tolerate any of this tomfoolery and he sounded off on this matter yesterday on Twitter:

"You are kidding me that players at Ohio State did not know it was illegal to sell their rings and awards!!  Can play in bowl game?? Crazy!!"

Ah, I love and miss Papaw Brooks!!

In the spirit of all things Christmas Eve and Christmas related, we start today with the latest attempt to mend fences with the BBN from Daniel Orton.  We know that there are still some hard feelings in the BBN for the way Daniel left Kentucky but in the end, he was and will alays be one of “ours”.  While I still wish Daniel had stayed, it’s time to move on and not begrudge his decision.

On another note, Daniel had successful knee surgery yesterday and we can only hope to see him on the court soon for my Orlando Magic.

Can’t make it through the Holidays without some “Jorts love”?  Well, the SEC Digital Network has a “One on one” article with Jorts posted now.  It’s good to see him get some good conference wide press.

And finally … in case you missed it ….. nothing promotes Christmas peace and brotherhood like Mississippi State’s Renardo Sidney throwing haymakers … at his own team mates.  Merry Christmas.
