The Season Never Ends, But the Party Has
By Paul Jordan
You mean there isn’t millions waiting for me in the pros?
By now, if you haven’t heard, then you must be trying to hide from local news. Mike Hartline was arrested and charged with disorderly with his involvement in a “verbal altercation” at a house off Crescent Ave in which a girl was claimed that Hartline hit her in the jaw although no evidence of this was found and no charges have been filed. As a friend of mine joked,”It was just a matter of time before Mike finally started acting drunk and belligerent”. Honestly? I agree. There has been a lot of bashing on Hartline and this will only make it worse, but color me not impressed with a player that has been under fire going out and getting smashed with an underage cheerleader (she was 20) one month before you claim ultimate freedom from a sport that has taken your free time for the last 17 years. We all know he wasn’t going to have to train for the combine, there’s really no reason. But for Hartline to let down everyone else by leaving the swing game between a successful and unsuccessful season up to the people you mysteriously beat out for the job. LHL has the article.
I’m not going to sit here and harp on this, there are many others that will take that job for me, but let me get this straight: I did a LOT of stupid stuff in college, and alcohol was involved most of the time, but not once did I act a fool enough to get myself arrested. I don’t know if his minor celebrity status made him a bigger target or he was actually acting rowdy enough to warrant sleeping it off in the tank, but it’s obvious that he was acting like an idiot; just means that we might see a glimpse of the next year one game early after we find out Joker’s reaction. Personally I don’t think missing the last game of his career will hurt his draft stock, but who knows? Maybe someone actually was looking at him.
This now ends the gossip section of this column. For many people fantasy football has begun their playoffs, and yours truly pulled in a cool $50 because LT couldn’t score me nine more points and rake in $200 more; but playoffs have started and if you’re lucky enough to have drafted or picked up a UK player on the season, then congratulations, you more than likely had a good year. If you didn’t, then quit sipping the UK NFL’er Haterade and check out what you’re missing out on.
Jacob Tamme- 46 catches 452 yards 3 TD’s- Dallas Clark’s had exploded mid-season and Tamme, who had less than a dozen yards on his career, took over the scene and has turned in great numbers. A waiver wire pickup for all but the craziest of UK fans, he has turned into an every week fantasy option.
Stevie Johnson-61 catches 832 yards 9 TD’s- I had a friend a fellow UK alum, draft Stevie up in the beginning of the season and subsequently drop him a few weeks in. Another friend picked him up and well, you know the rest of the story. Johnson has been getting loose everywhere (including Twitter) and is having a Pro-Bowl kind of year. Definite watch list player for next year.
Trevard Lindley-9 tackles 1 INT- “The Assassin” has played significant minutes recently due to injuries, and even though I don’t use IDP’s (individual defensive players) in my league I always like seeing him succeed.
Corey Peters- 24 tackles- anchoring the middle for the AFC South leading Falcons, Peters is handling business like the big blue Cat can.
Enjoy your weekend, don’t go ballistic outside your home if you’ve been drinking, and don’t let the drunkest guy at the party talk to the cops. They arrestin’ er’rybody up in here!
