Kentucky Basketball: The Evolution of Dance and "The Dougie"
By Paul Jordan
Never in my life did I think that in my career as a UK blogger, I would do an article about dance, yet it must be done. We all have seen the classic video “The Evolution of Dance” by Judson Laipply and it’s many incarnations on youtube. In case you are unaware of it, my favorite version of it is done by Andy Bernard from “The Office”:
Now that Andy Bernard is pretty good and all, but last year, Kentucky’s John Wall started his whole evolution of dance with his now classic “John Wall Dance”. Here is a look at the original John Wall dance and some of the many incarnations that swept the world last year:
But alas, all good things come to an end and John Wall departed for the NBA. About the same time, Cali Swag District brought us “The Dougie” and like true blue ambassadors, John Wall and DeMarcus Cousins showed their dance skills for the BBN:
Now, when Big Blue Madness rolled around, UK Hoops Coach Matthew Mitchell brought “The Dougie” to the spotlight, pure and simple:
Not to be outdone at BBM, Doron Lamb debuted his dance and Josh Harrellson stole the show with his version of “The Carlton”:
Which brings us to presentday. John Wall made headlines last night with his “Dougie” at Washington and today, the legend grows. In perhaps the most awkward :15 of video ever, ESPN’s Skip Bayless “does the Dougie” with John Wall. Sort of.
