Former Cats in the NFL: Stevie Johnson and Jacob Tamme hit redzone paydirt edition

by Andrew Hardison

Stevie Johnson (WR/Buffalo Bills): Johnson continues to do work on the field and has become
quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick’s most reliable receiver on the 2010-11 seasons. Johnson had five catches
for only 37-yards, but his team high 10 targets shows why Fitzpatrick likes to look Johnson’s way more
than any of his other receivers. Johnson’s touchdown Sunday against Kansas City now gives him six on
the year and he has now recorded a touchdown in each of the last five games.

Tim Masthay (P/Green Bay Packers): It was a defensive showdown during the Packers vs. Jets game
and Masthay got in a lot of work this past Sunday. Masthay had eight punts for a total of 352-yards
against New York, helping Green Bay to victory. He had one touchback on the day, but it may have been
his ability to get the ball inside the Jets 20-yard line that proved most valuable during the Packers 9-0
victory over New York.

Myron Pryor (NT/New England Patriots): Pryor may have had the hit of the week during the Patriots
game against Minnesota, which ended the game prematurely for Vikings quarterback Brett Favre. Pryor
had one tackle on the day, but the hit he put on Favre was something to see. Favre ended up leaving the
game with a laceration to his chin, just another injury the veteran has had to deal with this season. Pryor
and starting nose tackle Vince Wilfork make quite the duo in New England.

Corey Peters (DT/Atlanta Falcons): BYE Week

Wesley Woodyard (LB/Denver Broncos): No stats accumulated.

John Conner (FB/New York Jets): Conner helped out in the Jets run game against the Packers, but didn’t
accumulate any stats otherwise. New York ran for 119-yards on 29 carries.

Jacob Tamme (TE/Indianapolis Colts): Tamme got a lot of great playing time due to the season ending
injury tight end Dallas Clark suffered two weeks ago. The third year pro had to wait his turn to make it
into the Colts starting lineup, but he didn’t disappoint during his first game Monday night. Tamme had
six receptions for 64-yards and one touchdown. Colts quarterback Peyton Manning targeted Tamme a
whopping nine times, but if Tamme is to replace the services of Clark, he’ll have to be ready to see a lot
of action from his quarterback. Look for Tamme’s increased role with the Colts offense to continue for
the rest of the season.

Micah Johnson (LB/Miami Dolphins): Practice Squad

Keenan Burton (free agent):

Trevard Lindley (CB/Philadelphia Eagles): BYE Week

Jeremy Jarmon (DE/Washington Redskins): No stats accumulated.

Garry Williams (OL/Carolina Panthers): Williams started the second game of the season at right tackle
during the Panthers game against St. Louis. Carolina was atrocious on the ground, gaining only 25-yards
on the day with the offensive line giving up three sacks. Williams and company will definitely have to do
better up front if they want to win any games going forward.
