Kentucky Wildcat 5 things to know for Friday: Big Blue Madness edition

facebooktwitterreddit

Good morning, Big Blue Nation.  Can you feel it?  With the giant killing South Carolina football team coming to town and Big Blue Madness tonight, this has the potential to be one of the top sports weekends of the year.  The pic above, taken at last year’s BBN is probably my favorite Calipari picture thus far.  Will there be another moment to take that place?  We’ll see.  But today’s “5 for Friday” is going to be all about BBM.

First, where do watch the event if you are not in Rupp Arena?  Big Blue Madness will be streamed for free on UKAthletics.com and ESPN 3.  If you have AT&T U-verse cable, you may be able to watch it on the ESPN3 channel (it is available in my area).  The Big Blue Sports Network will televise the event live on FS South (in Kentucky only), and on WYMT-TV, WKAG-TV, WKYT-TV and WMYO-TV.  Other Big Blue Sports Network affiliates will be tape-delayed: WBKO-TV (12:05 a.m. CT), WTVW-TV (10 p.m. CT), WSAZ-DT (10:30 p.m. ET) and WDKA-TV (9 p.m. CT).  The event will re-air Monday night on FS South at 7:00 pm ET.

Last year, John Wall set the BBN on fire with his dance.  So is any Wildcat going to seize the moment and have their own dance?  Doron Lamb has said that he will dance and he will unveil the “D-Lamb” and he knows he has a big act to follow:

"“Oh yeah, the D-Lamb is coming out tomorrow,” Lamb said. “I know (I’m following Wall). I think my dance will be better than that.”"

We do know that Brandon Knight will not dance, but there are rumors that Josh Harrellson may also break out his dance shoes and perform his version of the “Carlton”.

It does not appear that there will be a lot of uncommitted recruits to attend Big Blue Madness and so far, I have not heard of any members of the 2012 class attending the event.  However, Kentucky’s 2011 class will all be able to all get together for the first time as a group of Wildcats.  Marquis Teague, Michael Gilchrist, Anthony Davis, and Kyle Wiltjer will all be on hand at BBM.  There is also speculation that former Cardinal commit Michael Chandler may attend, although he has been linked to a couple of other different events as well.

While it’s not a BBM story, it is interesting to note that Randall Cobb arranged a meeting with John Calipari yesterday to see if he can get tickets for BBM  to discuss leadership.  It’s no secret that Cobb is frustrated with the three game losing streak and Calipari is kind of a motivational guy.  Cobb had these comments:

"“(Calipari) doesn’t know a lot about football, but he knows a lot about leadership,” Cobb said. “He was just telling me that I’m a leader, it’s obvious to see that I’m a leader, and I’ve got got use myself in ways that I normally wouldn’t — just reaching out to my teammates and telling them how much I can do to help them, to make their jobs that much easier. So I’m going to make sure I do that this week, try to find out all the little things I can to help my teammates out.”"

And finally …. if this does not get you ready and pumped for BBM tonight, you, my friend have no pulse…
