WBN Hot Links- Where's The Beef? Edition
By Paul Jordan
Hello, Cat Fans and welcome to the Where’s The Beef? Edition of the WBN Hot Links. Some of you may be old enough to remember the little old lady from the Wendy’s commercials who went around asking “Where’s The Beef?” when she went from restaurant to restaurant to get a hamburger. That lady’s name was Clara Peller, and she died back in 1987. But her question still remains, albeit in a different fashion for the Cats.
Auburn is coming to town on Saturday, and we need the beef. We need guys knocking holes in Auburn’s defense, we need guys who can bulldog down a runner or a receiver, and we need guys who are going to step up and play like a man, or we are going to receive a 3-peat butt kicking. Our season is not lost, or year is not yet in jeopardy, but that point is fast approaching. So, Joker and Co. I say to you, Where’s The Beef? and are you going to bring it Saturday to Commonwealth Stadium?
This morning’s links have two central themes. Give us our Enes, and give him to us now, and Auburn is looking for blood. Eamonn Brennan is up first with his take on Kanter, not much there we have not already heard, but frankly there is not much that has not been hashed and rehashed. John Clay has a nice piece on the history of the “Free Enes” movement. This is the piece about Enes’ father’s response to everything being said about his son. Note that the NCAA asked him not to talk to anyone, typical. We wouldn’t want the truth to get out now would we? A little something to finalize the Eric Bledsoe case that we have not seen or heard yet, Jon Rothstein has a good insight.
Moving on to the Auburn Tigers and the Rest of the SEC, College Football News picks another heartbreaker for the Cats 38-30 Auburn. Just in case you were not sure, Auburn is ready. It would be nice for the Cats to put some restraints on Cam Newton. If we don’t it is not going to be pretty. On a couple of side notes, a UK Football legend passed away on October 6. Ralph Kercheval was 98. Some of his stats and bio information are here. Ralph was the oldest living professional football player. Thanks to bob in bg over at A Sea Of Blue for the info. Also Ken Howlett has his last installment about the pre-season magazines over at CoachCal.com. It was a really nice 3 part series and can save you some money on buying the wrong one. Tomorrow we will be all Auburn and Kentucky and SEC Football as we try to push the Cats forward to a win over Auburn, that is unless Enes is freed, in which case we will be taking the day off and making it a national holiday.
