WBN Hot Links-Picking Up The Pieces Edition
By Paul Jordan
Monday morning Sportsfans, and like it or not, it is time to follow the title of the movie above and move on. Joker and Co. have to pick up the pieces, tape up the wounds, and get back to work, because Auburn will be here on Saturday. And if you think that Ol’ Miss had an offense, you ain’t seen nothing yet my friends. 3-2 is nothing to be embarrassed about unless you just looked like you were the hapless victim of a drive-by tar and feathering. And we just did it two weeks in a row. So for the sake of the UK Football program, it is time to gird up our loins once again and get ourselves prepared to do battle. Let us hope that a week is enough time to figure out what ails us.
First up this morning we head over to CoachCal.com for Ken Howlett’s 2nd installment on the preseason magazines we all know and love so well, as long as they rank us where they should and make us look good. Also they have a quick video of the Papa John’s Pizza giveaway on Friday night over at Memorial Campground. You know that has to stick in the craw of the UL folks that Papa John’s donated pizzas to UK fans. I personally think that Papa John’s should hire Cal as their spokesman.
Congrats to Ryan Tydlacka for being the NATIONAL punter of the week. Maybe our entire Football team is not lost. And just so you know I am not the only one losing his mind over the last two weeks performances, here’s more. Joker Phillips gives Mike Hartline his support, which is all he can really do. Hartline did not cost us the win in Florida, and he was not the only one responsible for the Mississippi debacle. But he was a vary large part of it. Adding insult to injury is the fact that Tennessee, in spite of their mountain of issues they are dealing with, came close to knocking off LSU Saturday. They are playing on nothing more than guts and determination right now, but they are giving it their all.
Glenn Logan gives his post-mortem of the Mississippi game here. Personally I think he took it easy on them. Chip Cosby points out that this is the UK season over the next 5 games. With 4 games at home and only 1 away, the Cats have to make a stand and pick up at least 3 wins in the next 5 games. I would not want to be wagering my house payments on it.
Cal is talking that oldest of themes this week, and he is thinking of possibly going with 4 guards to offset what he sees as UK being the underdogs again this season. And here is a little teaser for my player infomercial for this afternoon Jerrod Polson.
There’s your morning folks. You can pull up 2000 versions of the Cats failures being sorted through and analyzed to death if you like, but for me, it just makes me ill.
