Rebounding From Gainesville?

This past Saturday Kentucky was dismantled by Florida by a score of 48-14. It was the 10th time that Florida has defeated Kentucky by at least 30 points. Of the previous 9 defeats by at least 30 points to Florida, I decided to see how Kentucky fared the week after the game to see if they rebounded from the loss or still had a hangover. Here’s what I found:

1972: Lost to Florida 40-0 on November 18th, Lost to #12 Tennessee 17-7 on November 25th

1975: Lost to #14 Florida 48-7 on November 15th, Lost to Tennessee 17-13 on November 22nd

1990: Lost to #6 Florida 47-15 on November 17th, Lost to #10 Tennessee 42-28 on November 24th

1994: Lost to #2 Florida 73-7 on September 10th, Lost to Indiana 59-29 on September 17th

1995: Lost to #5 Florida 42-7 on September 9th, Defeated Indiana 17-10 on September 16th

1996: Lost to #1 Florida 65-0 on September 28th, Lost to #13 Alabama 35-7 on October 5th

2001: Lost to #2 Florida 44-10 on September 22nd, Lost to Ole Miss 42-32 on September 29th

2008: Lost to #5 Florida 63-5 on October 25th, Defeated Mississippi State 14-13 on November 1st

2009: Lost to #1 Florida 41-7 on September 26th, Lost to #3 Alabama 38-20 on October 3rd

So Kentucky is only 2-7 (.222) in the week following a 30+ point loss to Florida, not a good sign for the Wildcats.

Wildcats Starting SEC Play On The Road

With today’s game against the Ole Miss Rebels being played in Oxford, this will mark the 9th time in school history that Kentucky will play their first two SEC games in a season away from Lexington. Here’s how Kentucky fared in the previous eight occurrences:

2000: Lost to #3 Florida 59-31 in Gainesville, Lost to Ole Miss 35-17 in Oxford

1998: Lost to #8 Florida 51-35 in Gainesville, Lost to #22 Arkansas 27-20 in Little Rock

1996: Lost to #1 Florida 65-0 in Gainesville, Lost to #13 Alabama 35-7 in Tuscaloosa

1960: Lost to Georgia Tech 23-13 in Atlanta, Lost to #1 Ole Miss 21-6 in Memphis

1949: Defeated LSU 19-0 in Baton Rouge, Defeated Ole Miss 47-0 in Oxford
