Featured Game: September 22nd, 2007 #21 Kentucky – 42 Arkansas – 29
The Arkansas game in 2007 were a few firsts for Kentucky. It was the Wildcats’ first road game of the season, first SEC game of the season, and first game ranked in the AP Poll since the 1984 season. Kentucky were 3-0 and riding a 4 game winning streak dating back to the 2006 Music City Bowl victory over Clemson. Arkansas came into the game with a 1-1 record, losing their SEC opener to Alabama in the previous week. The game featured some scoring on both defense and special teams. The Razorbacks scored a touchdown when Antwain Robinson recovered a Kentucky fumble and returned it 16 yards into the endzone. Then, late in the 2nd quarter, Kentucky’s Trevard Lindley returned Darren McFadden’s fumble 66 yards for a touchdown. And, early in the 4th quarter, Arkansas got a safety when Fred Bledsoe tackled Andre Woodson in the endzone. On the ensuing kickoff, Felix Jones returned the kick 82 yards for a touchdown. After that kick return for a touchdown, Arkansas led 29-21 with 11:40 left in the game. Then, in a span of 7 minutes, the Wildcats scored 21 points, capped off by a 1 yard quarterback sneak by Andre Woodson into the endzone with only 59 seconds left in the game, to seal the victory for the Wildcats. During the game, Andre Woodson set the NCAA FBS record for most consecutive pass attempts without an interception. The Razorbacks ran all over the Wildcats for 338 yards, including 306 yards by the duo of Felix Jones and Darren McFadden. But Kentucky was aided by forcing Arkansas into 3 turnovers, allowing only 1 offensive touchdown. Steve Johnson was the spark for Kentucky’s offense, having 7 receptions for 111 yards.
