Who is next for the 2011 class? Daniels? Wroten? Lacey?

As Andrew pointed out a few hours ago, Rivals has released it’s list of the top 2011 team hauls and to no ones’s surprise,  Kentucky has a huge handle on the top recruiting class in the land.  Now with four recruits already committed, all of Kentucky’s available scholarships are spent.

But with 14 months until that 2011 team takes the court, it is widely expected that John Calipari may add yet another player to this class as a scholarship or two may open up due to the lure of the NBA.  If you take a look at the 2011 class, you see a distinct UK flavor as four of the top 25 players are headed to Lexington.  But what else can we expect?  Let’s take a look at three other players that may still join this class.

DeAndre Daniels – For a couple of weeks, it looked as if DeAndre Daniels would be a member of this class, but the former Texas commit decided  not to re-classify and remains a memebr of the 2011 class.  There is a story going around that Calipari told Daniels that he should joing the 2010 class because there may not be room for him in the 2011 haul.  And as shocking as it seems, a player told Calipari no.  As of now, Rivals lists Daniels with four favorites:  Kansas, Kentucky, Memphis, and Tennessee – with Texas apparently playing the darkhorse role.  This one could be a battle for the ages recruiting wise, but you have to wonder if Daniels lost his chance when he did not re-classify.

Anthony Wroten –  The incessant Kentucky chatter by Wroten has cooled down a bit and it is starting to look more likely that Washington may win his services.  Rivals still lists 8 schools as co-leaders for Wroten, and Louisville still has a chance as well.  According to his twitter, Wroten has a visit with Louisville planned for next weekend but with this kid you never know.  In the course of last evening on twitter, Wroten said that he wanted to go to Louisville to play with Peyton Siva, that he wanted to go to Kentucky to play with Martquis Teague, and said that Jabari BRown of Washington was his “bro”.  For whatever reason, Kentucky and Calipari have seemed largely disinterested in Wroten, but you get the feeling that is Calipari got chummy, he would commit in an instant.  Will the offer come though?  Who knows.

Trevor Lacey –  More and more, Lacey is looking like the perfect complement to UK’s 2011 backcourt.  We know that Doron Lamb can play both guard positions effectively well, eliminating in part the need to add another PG, so Lacey looks like a pretty good fit.  He is still a few months away from deciding, and Rivals shows eight teams listed with “medium interest”.  It’s interesting to note that almost half the SEC (Kentucky, Tennessee, Alabama, Auburn, and Mississippi State are listed for Lacey.  From what I hear, Kentucky has a good chance with Lacey, but once again, the commitment seems to be a long way away.  I think the fact that Lacey is still available (he was supposed to have committed to Auburn last week, but that never happened) and is taking his time is a good sign for UK.
