Good Morning Ladies and Gentlemen and welcome to the Deana Carter Edition of the WBN Hot Links. Dedicated to Deana Carter for one reason only. I like her. Oh yeah, and there is enough nonsense going on in the Big Blue World today to fill a washtub and bathe in it, which brings us to the question, Did I shave my legs for this???
To quote my favorite genie, “Sit back and ruminate whilst I illuminate”.
It seems that our old buddy in New York is at it again. Your favorite reporter and mine Pete”Don’t Call Me Maravich” Thamel is out to set the Big Blue World on fire again and this time it is directed at Enes Kanter. Thamel has interviewed the GM of the Club in Turkey that Kanter played for and now that Club is claiming to have paid over 100K to Kanter and his family. Paul covered this last night, and I will have more on it at 2PM so I will not go into a boatload of details, but I will be giving you a world of wonderful links so you can start panicking now. No, seriously folks, there is no need to panic yet, because UK, nor Coach Cal has done anything wrong. Kanter has not played a game yet, and thus we are in no way in violation of the NCAA. And this is not yet a done deal, because the NCAA has not confirmed that any improper benefits were paid yet. Should they do that, then Kanter simply will not be able to play, that is the long and the short of it. All Thamel has done, if this GM is telling the truth, is break the story a few days early. And that is what reporters do. If the Turkish GM lied to Thamel, then Thamel does not have control over that and it is not his fault. So, let’s move on.
My old buddy Ken Howlett over at ASOB is first up with his take on the whole thing. Ken always does a good job so go here first and work your way through. Just so you know that we remember which team is actually playing ball right now, here is a great piece on Moncell Allen. They keep calling him “Turtle”. My friends and I have renamed him T2. Have to let more people know about that. Here is the UK “official” response to the NYT article. Mike DeCoursey’s take on the whole Kanter situation. To be honest, this is a really good analysis of the whole thing.
Luke Mc Dermott showed us he can play against Louisville. The kid has heart and guts, and a whole lot more too. Here is a great story on former Cat Micah Johnson. Looks like he has found a home.
Season Ticket sales are down for Football. I wonder why? And also, why is there no deal yet for Insight to show the UK-WKU game this weekend? It is time someone started locking these things down before the season starts.
That should get your morning going. Enjoy the chaos for a few days.
