Our intra-state rivals were opening up their new Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium and it was the first time that the two schools faced off in Louisville in the modern series. And the Wildcats couldn’t have welcomed the Cardinals to their new stadium any better when they whooped them 68-34. The Wildcats put up 41 points in the first half and had a commanding 41-10 lead at halftime. Tim Couch was taken out of the game early in the 4th quarter, but still ended up with 498 passing yards and 7 touchdowns. The Wildcats put on an offensive clinic, piling up 801 yards of total offense.
