Wildcat Football: Top Ten reasons UK will beat U o fL

We’ve waited all year and the kickoff of the 2010 season is finally here. Saturday’s game is an important contest for both teams as it could easily set the tone for either team to have a great or sub par year. Now some folks will give you several reasons why you should be wary of the Louisville Cardinals (and I’ve done it before too) but that’s not going to be this particular post. Nope. If you are looking for a professional and objective look at the game, I’m sure Paul’s “Know your enemy” article will fit what you’re looking for. This is a unabashed view from a homer fan of the top ten reasons the Wildcats will beat the $#!* out of the Cardinals.

Only the Louisville Cardinal fans could come up with something as stupid as the two-finger “loser” hand sign as their teams gang sign. I’ll admit I’m not a fan of even the hook-em-horns version Texas fans use, but seriously……how can any team that identifies itself as a loser expect to win?

A&E’s hit show “The First 48” has already scheduled to be in Louisville for the game. While the show regularly follows the constant homicides in the city, directors have announced that they are excited to catch their first murder on tape. The expected victim is Victor Anderson, and the primary suspect in the crime is Winston Guy.

#8
Adam Froman isn’t scaring anyone. Louisville fans are quick to point out that his efficiency rating was higher than Hartline’s last year. Congratulations. No offense to Mike, but I wouldn’t exactly use his performance last season as the official success indicator. BUT, then again, Hartline was playing Florida, Alabama, and South Carolina when Froman was playing Southern Miss, Syracuse and Cincinnati….who lost to Florida by 90 in a game that should have seen the mercy rule come into effect. I’ll take Hartline any day.

Kentucky has a major size advantage at receiver. With Matthews, Adams, King, Roark, and Boyd all checking in at 6’4 or taller, all Hartline really needs to do is throw the ball up in the air and it should be one touchdown after the next. Johnny Patrick can only cover one guy at a time for the Cardinals.

#6
Derrick Locke will be primed and ready to go for his last game against the Cardinals. He’s going to see constant comparisons to Victor Anderson all night, and he’ll show the Cardinals what speed really looks like.

#5
There will be a heavy presence of Police, Sheriffs, and State Troopers at the game. The Cardinals can’t possibly hope to play well while looking over their shoulders at their old buddies from Louisville Metro.

#4
The Cardinals don’t have Randall Cobb, the Wildcats do. No further explanation needed.

#3
Charlie Strong will be caught not paying attention to the game as he text messages athletic directors all over the country trying to find a better job.

#2
The Louisville defensive line has absolutely no shot at doing anything but lying on their backs all night as the Kentucky offensive line pummels them over and over again. The average weight of the Louisville defensive line comes in at 261 pounds, which is a ridiculous 43 pounds lighter than the average Kentucky offensive lineman weighing in at 304. Most games are won and lost in the trenches and this one should be no different.

#1
The Wildcats just have more talent almost everywhere on the field and I don’t think even the most delusional Louisville fans could argue against this. Maybe we should thank ole Krags for leaving the Cards with a thin roster full of marginally talented players, but the Cardinals will need Kentucky to beat themselves because they don’t really have the ammo to get the job done.
