Good Morning WBN Fans and welcome to the “Lifestyles Of The Not So Rich And Famous” Edition of the WBN Hot Links. This was one of my favorite songs from the man you see pictured to the right, not only because it was funny, but because it was way too close to being true. You can watch the video here. And believe me, Tracy is nothing compared to some we have in the links today.
First up, in the never ending saga of what is the Karen Sypher Story, we have this from the Kentucky State Fair, Blackmail Ale, yes, that’s right, was the blue ribbon winner in the home brew category, humor/satirical division. Some things just tell the story themselves. Next, we are notified that Tolly-Ho, that most excellent of all campus hang-outs is getting a new home and moving to South Broadway. I heard a rumor they will be featuring Blackmail Ale in the new location…??? And finally in the non-sports related news category this morning, we have a fraternity that was suspended for underage drinking. Now, I am not promoting this practice, nor do I condone their behavior, but I thought that was why anyone joined a fraternity??
Moving on to the sports links, ESPN has a poll on who will win the SEC in Basketball this year. Looks like the people in Mississippi didn’t get the memo about Calipari coming to UK last year.
It appears that Randall Cobb gets some love from ESPN, even if he was not a pre-season AA selection, as he was rated the #4 best Twitter account, Rcobb18, tweeted after watching the ESPN preview show about the SEC Football season, “Still no respect, watchin ESPNU sec preview”. I guess Randall now knows what some of us have known all along about ESPN.
Lane Kiffin is the gift that just keeps on giving to Tennessee. The NCAA is now talking to his brother-in-law about him and his recruiting. I hope he wasn’t angry with Lane about not being taken to Tennessee with him when he went. Joker Phillips wants to make UK’s presence known in Jefferson County. Don’t worry coach, I think a few people over there know who you are.
Alan Cutler’s take on the QB situation at UK. TeamWeaver over at ASOB has some great stuff on the statistics now provided about fouling the ball handler at the end of a game with a 3pt lead.
Steve Spurrier throwing in the towel with the NCAA on penalties? That does not sound like the ‘Ol Ball Coach to me. Now this also was very disturbing to me. There is a category in which UK does not lead the NCAA in and we must do something about it, and possibly fix the economy at the same time. We are not the #1 school in merchandise sales. We are #8. This cannot continue. Please hurry down to your local sportswear store and fix this problem ASAP.
That’s all for today folks. I hope to have my interview with Les “The Door Man” Smith posted this weekend. You will all remember Les as the man behind the microphone and in front of the door to the Memphis Athletics building last year when we were all watching “The Door” and hanging on his every word waiting to hear about Cal coming to UK. He was a wonderful interview, and I hope to have it for you this weekend, so stay tuned.
