I have to admit that as far as rumors go, this is one of the wildest and craziest that I have heard (and I have heard quite a few) in running this site. And if this rumor is true, it would be one of the most delicious and bizarre stories to affect the University of Kentucky.
We all know about the Pete Thamel story about Eric Bledsoe so far. We also know that Thamel, and apparently ESPN and possibly other media sources have had possession of Eric Bledsoe’s high school transcripts. This of course, has been seen by the BBN as a tremendous invasion of Eric Bledsoe’s privacy and on the surface, seems to be a pretty serious offense. There has been some talk and speculation that Eric Bledsoe may be considering suing the person or persons who leaked his high school transcript. Whether or not Bledsoe has a case, I do not know. I do know that this whole episode has been a tremendous source of embarrassment for Bledsoe and has made him the one true victim in this whole expose.
A couple of administrators at the schools Bledsoe attended have pointed out the sanctity of keeping the student’s records secure and that the records were only provided to schools that Bledsoe made an official visit to.
One of those schools that was involved with Bledsoe till the bitter end was the University of Florida and here is where we reach the wild rumor section of the story. And to be fair, I have just seen one tweet that makes this assumption. In the world of twitter, this can be random speculation or the beginning of a story. Early this morning, Brett Blevins who runs a site called Hoops Report sent out the following tweet:
Early speculation is that Richard Pitino may be the leak of Bledsoe’s transcript. He will be 1 coach included in the lawsuit. SMH
I know it seems crazy but it is easy to run rampant with this and imagine a Louisville/Florida scheme to try to bring Kentucky and Calipari down. It’s one that I doubt even Fox “Spooky” Mulder would find viable at this point, but it is definitely a story to keep an eye on and see where this speculation goes. I do have to give credit where credit is due: This “Coach Blevins” was pretty much dead on during the whole Terrence Jones saga so it appears he may have some good sources.
And in case you missed it, this weekend has been all about Bledsoe. I know that you may have missed a couple of my earlier posts on Bledsoe and my take of the situation, so here are some links to get you up to date:
