Calipari continues to burn up the recruiting trail with Anthony Wroten visit while waiting for Marquis Teague decision

It’s not enough that John Calipari is putting the finishing touches on a possible back to back top rated recruiting class in 2010. Our man Cal is racking up the frequent flyer miles and also busily working on the 2010, 2011, and 2012 classes. And you thought you were a multi tasker. So where do we start?

There is a bit of speculation tonight about the 2009 class still. I have heard comments that John Wall is still considering a return to Kentucky, but I still lump this in the less than 10% chance of happening. I’d love to see it happen, but seriously doubt it. Same rumors are floating around about Patterson. The deadline to formally enter the draft is Sunday, so we should see some movement and a formal announcement from these two soon. Just putting it out there, but neither Bledsoe or Orton have hired agents either.

Moving on to the 2010 class, I think there is a great deal of optimism that Kentucky will land either C.J. Leslie or Terrence Jones and some people still think both will be headed to Lexington. Kentucky also stays involved with other 2010 recruits like Marcus Thornton, Chris Hill and Eloy Vargas.

The future of the 2011 class takes a big step forward when Marquis Teague makes his college decision known. He will make his decision at 1:30 PM Thursday and this has evolved into a Kentucky vs Louisville decision. Now that Michael Chandler has de-committed from the Cardinals. Pitino desperately needs a win in the recruiting department. Getting Teague will obviously get Calipari further toward a monster 2011 class, but it has become apparent that the top talent in the 2011 class is actively seeking out Calipari and making their pitches to be recruited.

Case in point is Washington PG Tony Wroten. Wroten was seemingly off Kentucky’s radar until Michael Gilchrist announced with Kentucky, and then the top 10 player in the 2011 and probably the second or third PG started a barrage of tweeter updates moving Kentucky to the top of his list and expressing a desire to play with Gilchrist and Teague. Wroten has been predicting that Teague will sign with Kentucky and apparently Wroten has earned himself a visit from John Calipari, although it is unclear of Kentucky has offered Wroten or not. Common knowledge would say they have not, at least until we find out who is staying and leaving for the 2010 class. Cal will visit Wroten today (and assuming he will sneak in a Terrence Jones visit as well) and well, I will let Wroten’s twitter show how he feels about the visit:

can’t wait till 2morrow,Open gym tomorrow and guess what coach is coming to my school tomorrow. Hahahah all imma say is BIG BLUE NATION.Haha

Finally, Calipari was in Kansas last night to visit 2012 F Perry Ellis. Ellis is obviously a key recruit for Calipari as he has visited with him several times. Also on the radar for Wednesday is the commitment of 2012 F Zach Peters. Peters is a sophomore and has listed Kansas, Kentucky, Texas and North Carolina as his leaders, but I am not aware of Calipari offering this kid and am not sure how interested UK may be. Plus as we learned with Austin Rivers, the commitment of a sophomore is not exactly set in stone, but this one is looking like a Jayhawk commit.
