Recruiting Update: UK in good shape for Knight; Has Selby cancelled his UK visit again?

We are now entering the brunt of the recruting season. With the 2010 class wrapping up their senior seasons and heading to college, the 2011 class is about to begin their AAU seasons and will enter their senior season with high hopes. But before we turn our eyes towards them, lets focus on the 2010 class for now.

JOSH SELBY: Apperently, word is tonight from the folks at TheShiver.com, a KU website, that Selby has cancelled his visit to UK, a visit he had already cancelled before. It was made official earlier this week that he would visit Kentucky sometime soon, but now it seems as if he has put off UK again. He has long been rumored to be a KU commit and Brandon Knight a UK commit. Not many UK outlets are reporting this for now so it is pretty much a wait-and-see approach with this situation. He had a pretty good game at the McDonald’s All-American Game tonight with 13 points, and was also the winner of the Powerade Slam Dunk Contest. Selby says he will decide on April 17th at the Jordan Brand Classic in New York.

BRANDON KNIGHT: All signs are pointing towards Lexington for the Florida native. After Florida’s Billy Donovan took himself out of the running in the Knight sweepstakes, he has looked more and more like a guaranteed lock for UK. This is now two players in the same season Donovan has lost to Kentucky from his own backyard. He lost Stacey Poole (Providence Academy, Jacksonville) in September. Knight says he will decide on April 14th. He did not have an incredible shooting performance at the MCD-AA game, although he had the game-winning shot. He had some nice passes though and was showed some defense as well as good basketball IQ on the offensive end.

CJ LESLIE: Leslie has not given an official date as to when he will sign, but most people think he will wait as late as May until he announces his decision. As to if he has made a decision, it is still unknown although he is most likely UK-bound. With Cousins, Patterson, and now possibly Orton leaving, playing time will be a pretty inticing incentive for him. Each passing day though leaves a looming feeling with Cats fans. He is still looking at NC State, the school he decommitted from originally and is planning on taking a trip to Florida on April 17th. This has left many people why he hasn’t pulled the trigger on a specific school yet.

DORON LAMB: Perhaps the most unclear situation at this point is that of Doron Lamb’s. Apperently one day after he takes Arizona off his list, his father says that is untrue and that they he is still considering them. He has long had them on his list and this was seen as a surprise to many. Things have been quiet on the recruiting front with Lamb and UK, and Josh Selby has long said he would like to play at the same college as Lamb, which at this point is looking like it might be KU. At the same time, West Virginia is making a late push for Lamb and they are very well in the thick of things, as is UConn and UK. Lamb says he will make his decision along with Selby at the Jordan Brand classic on April 17th.

TERRENCE JONES: Jones is going to make a decision after Oregon makes their hire on a new coach. Even though he came out publicly and said that Ernie Kent leaving had no impact on his decision whether he went to Oregon or not, it doesn’t seem like he is so comfortable with that idea now. He said in an interview last night that he will wait and see who the coach is and see how the situation plays out before he makes a final decision on a school. Besides Oregon and UK who are high on his list, Washington is close behind with UCLA and Oklahoma as the two last schools on his list.
