This weekend the 20th Annual Kruel Classic was held in Coral Springs, Florida, and I had the opportunity to cover some important games while I was there. Granted, its an opportunity I don’t get that often but I took advantage of it while managing my high school basketball team. I took the time to interview Brandon Knight, the number one recruit in the country, a highly coveted UK recruit for the 2010 class. He performed well throughout the tournament, and on Monday night faced fellow UK recruit Quincy Miller’s QEA team. It was good to see the potential of the (hopefully) future Wildcats in action and Brandon Knight was gracious enough to sit down with me for a few questions.

AS: How is the recruiting process going for you. Which teams seem to be stepping up their game lately?
BK: “A lot of coaches have been calling, but for the most part I’ve been recruited evenly by all schools right now.”

AS: Have you had a chance to watch any of the teams recruiting you so far this season? Which teams have stood out?
BK: “Yeah, I’ve watched most of the teams. Kentucky, Kansas, they’ve all been playing good right now. Syracuse, Florida, all those teams have been doing pretty good.”

AS: When you watch the games, do you try to envision yourself in their offense? Or what do you look for when you watch the games on TV?
BK: “I try to envision myself in the offense, like my role on the team. Just really the style of play I would fit into best.”

AS: What would you say is the number one criteria you look for in a school?
BK: “A good relationship with the coach. Just to make sure your comfortable with him and where you’re at (for college).”

AS: When do you think you will narrow you list down to 2 or 3?
BK: “I’ll probably just make my choice straight from 6 schools, but I’m not really sure when at this point.”

AS: Has there been an instance in your recruitment that has really stood out from all the others?
BK: “Nothing really, it’s been pretty normal to say the least.”

AS: I know that throughout the season you have talked with Kenny Boynton at Florida and Stacey Poole, who recently committed to Kentucky. How hard are they trying to recruit you and how much do you take into account what they are telling you?
BK: “Yeah, they’ve been talking to me. But they’re not really trying to recruit me. We talk on a consistent basis, like a couple times a week. But it’s just usually about basketball and stuff.”
