Did the "Twitter Bird" leak the Stacey Poole to UK commitment? Plus C J Leslie plans UK visits

So the day came and went without a Stacey Poole decision. Around 11:00 AM or so, news broke that the decision was going to be a prime time television event…. well actually 5:30 PM Thursday on ESPN-U. No offense to our friends in Gamecock nation, but I hardly think that South Carolina basketball getting a recruit is cause for a national broadcast. So, I thought, this has to be all about Calipari …

Then about later, a series of twitters between Justin Young (National Hoops Report) and Jeff Goodman (Fox sports.com) seemed to verify what I was thinking as Goodman opened the exchange:

@justindyoung what has recruiting come to that the No. 58 player in the land is making his college announcement on national TV. Pathetic.

And then Young posted a couple of replies:

@goodmanonfox totally agree. but since he’s going to UK, makes sense…I guess. Biggest potential audience.

@(random tarheel tool) not this media/blogger. if he was going to SoCarolina, this wouldn’t happen. this commitment drives #’s, not about the kid

So things are looking good for UK to land Poole on Thursday, despite the occasional story saying that he was “not wowed” by UK and that his mother is leaning towards South Carolina. Both of those reports are coming from this guy, so I really don’t know how credible he is. I stopped doing predictions when I speculated that AJ Stewart was going to UMass, so I guess we all have to tune in Thursday.

With all the buzz on Stacey Poole yesterday, I neglected perhaps the other biggest UK basketball news of the day. Former John Wall team mate CJ Leslie has announced that he will make not one, but two visits to UK soon. Leslie will be making an unofficial visit to UK the weekend of October 2 and then following that up with an official visit to Midnight Madness on October 16. Leslie has also said that he planned on going to the UK/UConn game in NYC in December to see his buddy John Wall play in the Big Apple. The ramifications of him visiting twice in 2 weeks are huge. I would think that if John Wall has the type of year we all expect him too, it looks pretty good for him to be wearing UK blue.
